The Role You Will Have:
  • Play a pivotal role in evolving a renowned and cherished brand by collaborating closely with stakeholders on planning and prioritization.
  • Embody the role of both a leader and active contributor, leading and inspiring a team of talented software engineers by providing clear guidance, setting achievable goals, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning, while actively participating in coding and project development.
  • Actively engage in the professional growth and development of your team through mentoring, coaching, and providing opportunities for skill enhancement, aligning individual growth with organizational objectives.
  • Design and craft Node.js services using modern technologies such as GraphQL and MongoDB, striking a balance between revitalizing legacy systems and developing fresh, innovative capabilities.
  • Actively contribute to large web applications that serve a rich feature set to a large base of dedicated users (approximately 30MM monthly active users).


What You Will Bring:
  • Proven track record in effective team management, demonstrating strong skills in leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams in a dynamic and distributed work environment.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying large, high traffic Node.js backend applications to production.
  • Practical experience with GraphQL and MongoDB within a live production setting.
  • A passion for pragmatically applying cutting-edge technology to address business challenges, while innovating to captivate users with exceptional experiences, excelling in a collaborative and agile environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver well-thought-out solutions with timely project outcomes.
  • Operational knowledge of technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, and familiarity with programming languages and databases like Rust, Scala, Java, Redis, and Postgres.
  • Adept at learning and applying new technologies, committed to keeping pace with the fast-evolving tech landscape to drive innovative development practices.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $172,000 - $257,000 + bonus + equity +

benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range

displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire

salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is

determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills,

experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the

specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note

that the compensation details listed in U.S. role postings reflect the base salary only, and

do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.


System1’s headquarters is located in Marina del Rey, CA with additional offices in

Bellevue, WA and Guelph, ON, Canada. Employees near office locations are returning to

the office. Location-specific policies and available accommodations will be discussed

during the interview process.


System1 allows fully-remote work in the following approved locations: Arizona, Colorado,

Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon,

Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Prospective U.S. employees who live

outside of any of these states will need to establish residency in one of the approved
