Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for the position of Systems Analyst- Application Developer (Manager 180) in Information Technology (IT) Services (www.iup.edu/ITSupportCenter).

This position's typical responsibilities include participation in the analysis, selection, design, development, implementation, documentation, administration, maintenance and support of a variety of information technology systems and services. Other responsibilities include researching and resolving information technology problems and issues directed to the IT Support Center. This position works closely with other units to provide production support for all information systems.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
and
Two (2) years of system administration experience. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field can substitute for 18 months of experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field

Preference will be given to candidates who possess skills and experience in a systems and network administration environment, including some of the following:


  • Background and experience building secure multi-user systems;
  • Background in Linux and/or Windows System Administration using standard utilities for automation of tasks;
  • Experience configuring web services including Apache httpd and Tomcat in a secure fashion, Microsoft IIS;
  • Experience with networking technologies;
  • Experience automating system administration tasks using scripting tools;
  • Experience with backup and data recovery systems;
  • Knowledge of network storage systems; and
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment

Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.

Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in interview(s).

Essential Functions

The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:

  • Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, professional, harmonious working relationships with others.
  • This position requires work outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends as needed to partner effective, provide prompt customer service and/or as requested by senior HR management.
  • Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public.
  • Use of variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, auxiliary printers, and similar equipment.
  • Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
  • Duties performed may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
  • Follow oral and written instructions
