Systems Software Engineer

About this role:

We are seeking an exceptional Embedded Systems Engineer to join our System Software team. As an Embedded Systems Engineer you will help architect, design and develop the software and firmware that powers our current and future generation of machine learning accelerators.

The System Software team is responsible for providing the scalable infrastructure that gives access to the computational power of the Groq Tensor Streaming Processor (TSP). The challenges that we solve operate at many different levels of abstraction, from distributed computing clusters down to the bare metal. This wide range of experiences allows team members to expand their skill sets and continually grow.

Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:

  • Design and develop firmware for a variety of microcontrollers (ARM, 8051).
  • Build and deploy infrastructure to debug and validate functionality at the individual component and systems level.
  • Design and implement messaging protocols that allow various components to communicate on a system board level.
  • New hardware product bring-up

Qualifications for this role:

At minimum:

  • Minimum B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Over five years programming low level programming skills in C/C++.
  • 5 years experience developing embedded systems.
  • Proficiency with debugging large, complex systems and hardware/software interfaces.
  • Experience with communication protocols: I2C, CANBUS, SPI, USB.

Highly valued, not required:

  • Linux BSP bring-up and drivers.
  • Buildroot and makefile build systems.
  • Python
  • Assembly Languages
  • FPGAs and high speed data interconnects

Compensation:

The national pay range for our technical roles are $100,000-$500,000. The national pay range for our non-technical roles are $90,000-$470,000. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience aligned with Groq's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.
