Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Tax Specialist for our Notices team is reviewing, investigating, and resolving an agency notice on behalf of Paycor clients. The Tax Specialist acts as a liaison between our clients, Paycor and the agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Effectively research root cause of tax notices clients receive to identify how the issue occurred and how to prevent it from occurring in the future.
Prepare and distribute correspondence to tax agencies documenting the root cause of the issue and include any supporting documentation the agency will need to close out the issue.
Communicate with and assist clients in resolving issues related to payroll taxes and agency tax filings.
Prepare and distribute correspondence to clients documenting the root cause of the issue, all correspondences sent to the agency for their records, and when appropriate confirmation form the agency the issue has been resolved.
Partner with tax agencies and internal Paycor teams to troubleshoot issues and research solutions to resolve Client tax questions and issues.
Educate clients on the impact of the notice and any unresolved tax issues.
Accurately balance Client’s tax returns and tax payments with the agency.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll taxes and tax issues for federal and local taxing authorities.
Communicate with clients to obtain key information needed to complete a notice including the impounds for payments
Prepare correspondence to tax agencies requesting abatement of penalty and interest
Quality assurance review of tax setup within Paycor systems
Identify and document problems and trends and recommend solutions to eliminate the same problem in the future.
Actively participate as a member of the team and support other team members as needed, including fill in work for specialists as required.
Requirements
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment to meet tight deadlines.
Proven experience providing world-class service and ability to learn new systems and/or enhanced functionality within an existing system.
Demonstrated success with establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and peers across multiple departments.
Knowledge of federal/state/local revenue and unemployment filing requirements is a plus
Detail-oriented, analytical problem solvers, with a passion for working quickly and accurately
Proactive, quick learner, willing to take ownership of assignments and see through to successful completion
Demonstrated drive to learn new skills, enhance and implement process efficiencies for the betterment of the client, team and Paycor.
Excellent Client Service and technical support skills.
Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Microsoft Office experience: Excel proficiency required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
Must be available to work extended hours during peak season volume

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. We anticipate the base pay for this position to be between $17.65-28.26/hour. In addition to base pay, Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on their position.
