Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $65,500 - $99,075 annually. There are two types of experience being considered for this role: Experience that is directly relevant to the role and Total Working Experience, in all fields. This includes: internships and consulting work. In collaboration with the hiring manager, the People and Culture team calculates experience based on the candidate’s most current resume. When calculating the offer, consideration is given to candidates that possess additional qualifications (i.e., desired qualifications). Teaching Lab will generally cap salaries for new employees at 105% of the midpoint to allow for continued growth in the role over time.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
As a member of the People and Culture’s Shared Services team, the People & Culture Services Generalist provides administrative, operational, and program support for People and Culture Shared Services. While ensuring compliance with all Federal and State employment laws and record keeping requirements, this role has direct responsibility for maintaining standard operating procedures, auditing, and creating and maintaining personnel files. Additionally, this role supports appreciation and recognition, employee feedback and communications, coordinates employee activities and events, and serves as a back-up for onboarding and orientation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- The People and Culture Services Generalist will hold responsibilities in the following areas:
- People Administration & Operations
- Serves in the rotation for the weekly People and Culture office hour, responds to employee inquiries for general HR questions, and redirects to the appropriate People and Culture team member as appropriate while keeping the Senior Director, People and Culture Services abreast of inquiries and involving them as needed
- Assists team members with general HR questions, and serves as a guide to assist with finding resources to address their needs (e.g., EAP). Uses good judgment to escalate more complex inquiries to the Senior Director, People and Culture Services.
- Monitors the people@teachinglab.org email to ensure timely responses and follow-up while directing emails to the appropriate People and Culture Shared Services team member for follow-up
- Ensures labor law posters are current and provided for all employees to view, as well as compliance with new hire completion
- In partnership with the Senior Manager, People Operations, creates and maintains the employee changes spreadsheet/Monday.com boards and checklists for new employees, separations, promotions, demotions, and transfers
- Coordinates and maintains the People and Culture Shared Services team calendar
- In partnership with the Senior Manager, People Operations, creates and maintains accurate employee records and personnel files; this includes 1099 contractor files
- With oversight and guidance from the Senior Director, People and Culture Services, audits personnel and 1099 contractor files to ensure workplace compliance with labor laws, and employment practices
- Maintains Paylocity’s organizational chart
- Conducts HR reporting as requested
- With oversight and guidance from the Senior Director, People and Culture Services, maintains the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the People and Culture division; this includes collaborating with People and Culture functional Team Leads to update the People and Culture Division’s SOPs, tracking, and maintaining a repository of SOPs on Monday.com
- Orders and coordinates employee cards and gifts; this includes holiday gifts and holiday cards
- Coordinates birthday and anniversary announcements via the approved communication avenues
- Identifies opportunities for process and/or system improvements, and provides feedback and recommendations to the Senior Director, People and Culture Services
- As assigned by the Senior Director, People and Culture Services, serves as project support for People & Culture initiatives
- As identified and assigned by the Senior Director, People and Culture Services provides additional support for People and Culture Shared Services
- People and Culture Shared Services
- Onboarding and Orientation: Serves as a back-up to the Senior Manager, People Operations for onboarding and orientation, as assigned by Senior Director, People & Culture Services
- Appreciation and Recognition: Administers the Employee Appreciation and Recognition Program
- Employee Feedback and Communications: Responsible for P&C Feedback and Communication Avenues, including but not limited to: Paylocity Self-Service Portal, Paylocity Community, Paylocity Surveys, Newsletter, Staff Site, People and Culture Slack Channel, Exit Interviews
- Responsible for coordinating, distributing, collecting, tracking, and summarizing feedback for employee surveys
- Monitors the Team Member Feedback and Suggestions form or other designated platforms by reviewing, responding to, and redirecting to the Senior Director, People and Culture Services for follow-up
- Supports and/or leads initiatives to continue to build Teaching Lab’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racist culture
- Employee Activities and Events
- With oversight and guidance from the Senior Director, People and Culture Services, provides support for Employee Resource Groups (i.e., Affinity Support Groups)
- Represents People and Culture on the Town Hall Planning Committee
- Supports with culture and/or racial justice strategy initiatives
- Ensures that diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) is embedded in all offered activities and events
- Coordinates organizational People and Culture Services activities/events
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborates with others in the People & Culture Division and across the organization to generate ideas, strategies, and systems to meet both organizational and operations goals
- Responds to operations related issues in a timely manner while keeping the Senior Director, People and Culture Services abreast of issues and follow-up
- Seeks and responds to feedback from staff and adjusts people operational processes accordingly
- Engages in additional work as needed to meet organizational business needs and priorities

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, psychology, sociology or a related field or an associate’s degree
- With a bachelor’s degree, two (2) or more years of successful experience as an HR Assistant or Coordinator with a strong emphasis on HR administration, operations, and program support. An associate’s degree requires three (3) or more years of successful experience as an HR Assistant or Coordinator with a strong emphasis on HR administration, operations, and program support.
- Knowledge of and application of federal and state employment laws
