If we imagine 100 years from now, the tens of billions of pictures currently held in Flickr could be in something similar to the public domain. Today, we have an opportunity to begin the work to preserve those pictures and their stories and interconnections for the very long term. Imagine how a wildly successful Flickr Foundation could help ensure, by example, that the Commons of the future is the one we need and want.
The Flickr Foundation is new. We want to be a foundation that makes things, instead of just talking about things. That's why the Tech Lead is one of our first hires. We are looking for an experienced developer who is looking for an exciting high-impact challenge to design and develop the long-term accessibility of the Flickr collection.
Compensation
£90-105k / US$130-140k commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
We use Remote to manage international employment and localised benefits.
Work Location & Environment
London preferred, hybrid fine, remote considered.
But, remote will only be considered in a timezone that has at least 5 hours of overlap with London, UK, because that's where we've opened a small office.
Application Information
Please submit your CV/resume and a short (one-page) cover letter which expresses why you are interested in this position by June 21, 2023.
Equal opportunity
The 501(c)(3) Flickr Foundation is an equal opportunities employer, and we continue to educate ourselves on how we can improve. Humans from any nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and identity are welcome.
We see and celebrate the importance of a safe and accepting working environment that only a diverse team can unlock. We work to address our underlying biases that can stop that from happening. The photographs on Flickr and our projects and partners come from across the globe, and we aim to reflect the same diversity on multiple levels in our team and with our partners.
(Thank you to Dark Matter Labs for giving us permission to riff on their Equal Opportunities statement.)
Be yourself. That’s who we’re hiring. Our culture celebrates and supports the differences that make each of us unique. It’s how we build better products for the world...and career growth for you.
