Technical Marketing Specialist, Geoscience

TGS provides scientific data and intelligence to companies active in the energy sector. In addition to a global, extensive and diverse energy data library, TGS offers specialized services such as advanced processing and analytics alongside cloud-based data applications and solutions.
We are seeking a Technical Marketing Specialist to join our dynamic Marketing and Well Data Products team. The ideal candidate must have a background in Marketing & Communications or Geology and is passionate about communicating technical geoscience concepts. In this role, you will utilize your expertise to effectively communicate the value of TGS Well Data Products and services to our target audience. You will play a vital role in developing and executing marketing & communications plans and assets that resonate with our oil and gas customer base.
This position will report directly to the Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Western Hemisphere and will serve as the marketing resource for the business unit. The selected candidate will work with the Well Data Product managers and TGS Corporate Marketing to promote the product line, products, and features in accordance with the overall strategy. This role will be responsible for Well Data Products’ outbound marketing activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Subsurface Content Development:
    • Collaborate with product management and marketing to coordinate and/or create compelling marketing content, including blog posts, white papers, case studies, and webinars, that showcase our products and services from a geology perspective.
    • Write succinct content targeting geology and engineering professionals and leveraging your understanding of their pain points, challenges, and interests.
    • Translate complex geological concepts into clear and engaging messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal teams to gather information and insights for content creation.
  • Market Research and Analysis:
    • Work with Sales to understand customer needs, trends, and the competitive landscape in the Well Data Products space.
    • Analyze market data from campaigns and customer feedback to identify key insights and opportunities for marketing campaigns.
    • Utilize your geoscience background to guide technical insights and perspectives during market analysis.
  • Campaign Execution:
  • Work with the Sr. Product Marketing Manager to create cohesive marketing campaigns and communication plans
    • Collaborate with the product and marketing teams to create compelling messaging, visuals, and promotional materials that effectively communicate the value of our products and services to geology-focused customers.
    • Execute marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital platforms, conferences, and industry events.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in US onshore oil and gas to provide valuable insights and expertise internally and externally.
  • Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of other employees, and comply with all instructions given regarding health, safety and the protection of the environment
Job Requirements (Education and Experience):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications with previous work experience in geoscience OR Geology with previous experience and passion for Marketing
  • Strong understanding of concepts, terminology, and industry practices related to oil and gas exploration and development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Oil & Gas Operator or Oilfield Service Company experience preferred

  • Passion for marketing, geology, and the ability to bridge the gap between the two.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging marketing content that communicates technical concepts.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive marketing strategies.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining a consistent level of quality
  • Familiarity with digital marketing platforms, tools, and analytics.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong relational and communication skills
