Overview

TeleWorld Solutions is seeking a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Drive Test Engineer to join our team and support the validation, optimization, and performance assurance of FWA network deployments. In this role, you will be responsible for executing drive testing activities, collecting and analyzing RF data, and working closely with engineering teams to improve fixed wireless service coverage, throughput, and user experience.

 

Ideal candidates will have experience with LTE and 5G FWA systems, strong familiarity with RF measurement tools, and a detail-oriented approach to test planning and reporting. This is a hands-on field role that requires travel and independent execution of drive test operations.

Responsibilities

📡 Drive Testing & Data Collection

  • Perform FWA-specific drive tests using tools such as TEMS, XCAL, or Nemo
  • Validate signal strength, SINR, RSRP, RSRQ, and throughput performance in target areas
  • Identify cell border issues, handover failures, or service drops during mobility testing
  • Collect log files and upload datasets for post-processing and reporting

🗺️ Site Survey & Testing Preparation

  • Pre-survey locations to ensure accessibility and test relevance
  • Follow test scripts and network KPIs provided by the RF planning or optimization team
  • Install and configure test equipment in vehicles or at static testing points

📊 Analysis & Reporting

  • Interpret and summarize drive test data to assess FWA service reliability
  • Provide feedback to RF design, integration, and network optimization teams
  • Flag RF coverage issues and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Prepare daily summaries, raw logs, and consolidated reports

🤝 Collaboration & Support

  • Work alongside field techs, network engineers, and OEM support personnel
  • Maintain clear communication with project managers and test leads
  • Support troubleshooting activities during site turn-up and integration

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2–4+ years of experience in drive testing or RF data collection
  • Familiarity with FWA networks, 4G LTE/5G NR, and wireless technologies
  • Hands-on with drive test tools: TEMS, Nemo, XCAL, Actix, Windcatcher, etc.
  • Understanding of wireless KPIs: RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, CQI, BLER, etc.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and follow strict testing protocols
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 75–100%

Preferred:

  • Experience in Fixed Wireless Access deployments
  • Knowledge of CBRS, mmWave, or CPE devices
  • Familiar with RF optimization tools and techniques
  • Background in telecom engineering, RF, or network performance

  • Mapping & GIS Tools: Google Earth, MapInfo, Planet
  • Protocols: LTE, 5G NR, CBRS, mmWave
  • Data Analysis: Excel, Tableau, Python (basic preferred)

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to lift and install drive test equipment (up to 25 lbs)
  • Comfortable working long hours and in various outdoor conditions
  • Must be able to travel regionally or nationally for extended durations
