Job Description:
The New School is seeking candidates for the position of Intern – Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Reporting to the Director, Business Intelligence and Analytics, the AI/ML intern will be responsible for exploring the possibilities of chatbot development for a university. You will work closely with the university’s IT team to understand the specific needs of the university community and explore the potential benefits of chatbots. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in exploring and evaluating chatbot technology in a real-world environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with the university’s IT team to understand the specific needs of the university community.
- Explore the potential benefits of chatbot development for the university.
- Develop and test prototypes of chatbots.
- Evaluate and compare different chatbot technologies.
- Provide recommendations for the implementation of chatbots at the university.
- Participate in meetings and presentations to update stakeholders on the progress of the project.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time, paid internship. The position will work remote, without physical office space at the university. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Familiarity with natural language processing, machine learning, and other AI techniques.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Front-end/mobile app development skills, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy

- Familiarity with chatbot development.
- Familiarity with language models, such as GPT-2, GPT-3, BERT, and others.
- Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
