Business Operations

Hi, we're The Browser Company 👋 and we're building a better way to use the internet.

Browsers are unique in that they are one of the only pieces of software that you share with your parents as well as your kids. Which makes sense, they're our doorway to the most important things — through them we socialize with loved ones, work on our passion projects, and explore our curiosities. But on their own, they don’t actually do a whole lot, they’re kind of just there. They don’t help us organize our messy lives or make it easier to compose our ideas. We believe that the browser could do so much more — it can empower and support the amazing things we do on the internet. That’s why we’re building one: a browser that can help us grow, create, and stay curious.

To accomplish this lofty task, we’re building a diverse team of people from different backgrounds and experiences. This isn’t optional, it’s crucial to our mission, as we need a wide range of perspectives to challenge our assumptions and shape our browser through a bold, creative lens. With that in mind, we especially encourage women, people of color, and others from historically marginalized groups to apply.

About The Role

The Browser Company is hiring for Business Operations to scale and optimize our operations as we head into this next phase of growth. This role is perfect for a strategic generalist who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building new functions from the ground up. You’ll combine strategic thinking with executional rigor to oversee core processes, evolve our CompanyOS, and launch new systems, tools, or workflows to address emerging business needs. Your work will ladder up to our strategic objectives by fostering a more aligned, efficient, and insight-driven organization capable of scaling effectively.

Overall you will...

  • Work cross-functionally across teams and surfaces to ‘run’ the day-to-day operations of the business

  • Design and launch new operational functions from the ground up, from initial pilots to metrics-driven systems that advance our strategic goals

  • Partner with our leadership team to evolve our CompanyOS - improving how we plan, align, collaborate, and execute as a company

  • Build frameworks and systems to drive better decision-making, resource allocation, and strategic planning

  • Transform operational bottlenecks into scalable processes that enable rapid growth

  • Create metrics and reporting systems that surface the insights our teams need most

  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that improve how we collaborate and execute

After 1 month you will...

  • Get onboarded onto the team with an onboarding buddy

  • Attend onboarding presentations on how we give each other feedback, the phases a startup goes through, and our operational strategy

  • Begin building relationships with teams across the company

  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s tools, processes, and stakeholders

  • Map our current operational landscape to identify immediate opportunities and outline a plan to address them

  • Identify immediate operational priorities and deliver quick wins

  • Regularly share feedback about Arc in our #dogfooding channel

After 3 months you will...

  • Independently lead key operational projects and collaborate effectively across teams

  • Streamline at least one core process, making it more efficient and scalable.

  • Launch improvements to core processes that make them more efficient and scalable

  • Pilot new systems that enhance cross-functional collaboration

  • Build data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions

  • Begin evolving parts of our CompanyOS

  • Partner with leadership to identify and address operational gaps

After 6 months you will...

  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that directly support company-wide alignment and strategic goals

  • Build and launch at least one 0-1 function or system to address a critical business need

  • Establish regular reporting and metrics tracking processes that provide actionable insights to leadership

  • Lead improvements to our planning and execution frameworks

  • Be interview trained and interviewing candidates for roles at The Browser Company

  • Shape how we operate as we scale to support millions more users

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, or a related field (e.g., startups, consulting, corporate strategy)

  • Proven ability to build and implement scalable processes, tools, and workflows from the ground up

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a preference for candidates experienced in designing and interpreting data-driven models using SQL

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously

  • Highly structured in your communication, you convey complex ideas clearly and concisely. You present ideas both written and visually with great attention to detail and impact

  • The ability to prioritize ruthlessly in order to move quickly. You identify what’s most important alongside the points of diminishing returns. You identify problems and move quickly to establishing solutions

  • The intellectual agility to generate and shepherd novel ideas, approaches and strategies. Refer to our company values “Ask What Could Be” and “Assume You Don’t Know”

  • We're primarily focused on hiring in North American time zones and require that folks have 4+ hours of overlap time with team members in Eastern Time Zone.

Compensation and Benefits

💰 With our flexible compensation model, employees have the ability to choose the cash-to-equity ratio that best suits their individual needs. Every offer we extend includes three options: a salary-optimized offer, an equity-optimized offer, and a balanced offer.

We are a remote-first, distributed team, with the option to work in office in New York. We strongly support diversity and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
