The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It’s why we have a world-renowned newsroom that sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. It’s why we focus deeply on how our readers will experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for.
Mission Overview & Responsibilities:
The New York Times is seeking a Designer to support Human Resources and related employee experiences. The Designer will create design systems and visually unify Human Resources communications to create understanding of our offerings and help strengthen our culture.
We seek a candidate who shares this ambition, and is a trusted steward of our mission across the organization, while reinforcing the values that have sustained us over the past 170 years.
As the designer, you will work in close collaboration with the Creative Director, Culture and Communications on extending design systems in use and applying them to a range of scaled initiatives. You will identify ways to bring Human Resources (HR) to life and will contribute ideas towards developing and expanding the internal identity system across a range of touch-points, including guidelines and toolkits, campaigns, posters and templates. You will help translate an idea from high-level concept to production and execution. As the designer, you will need to assess and organize HR content as a part of the design process. It will be essential that the designer be able to engage with people from different backgrounds and experiences, flourish in a hybrid work culture, and partner across all levels of the company. This is a contract role based in our New York City Headquarters in Times Square. #LI-Hybrid
