Purpose of the Position
This position is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of optical thin film manufacturing processes, providing subject matter expertise and support for said processes, as well as facilitating continual improvement of Thorlabs’ coated optics products. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Thorlabs is on the hunt for a talented Manufacturing Engineer II - Coating to join our dynamic team! In this exciting role, you'll dive deep into the world of optical thin film manufacturing processes, ensuring that our coated optics products are top-notch. You'll provide subject matter expertise and support, facilitating continuous improvement while working in our state-of-the-art thin film manufacturing lab. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing process implementation, leading engineering projects, and utilizing metrology instruments for thin film characterization. You won't just be troubleshooting; you'll be mastering the art of identifying failures through Root Cause Analysis and documenting all your findings meticulously. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to train and mentor junior team members, sharing invaluable knowledge and skills gained from your 4+ years of optical thin film coating experience. We’re looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree in physics, materials science, or engineering, who possesses strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
