Tire Testing Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Ensure testing results are available by the required due date
  • Review master tire testing reports and report to Lead Engineer if data is out of standard.
  • As part of a team to support testing operations due to testing technician absence or any other reason, as needed.
  • Manage third party testing, contracts, pricing, internal approval processes, invoicing and provide timely updates as required on behalf of R&D department engineers and TTR engineers.
  • Develop strong relationships third-party testing vendors. Evaluate new third-party testing vendors.
  • Develop new testing method with third-party testing vendor, if required.
  • Develop new indoor testing method, if required.
  • Ensure testing equipment is in proper working order, when necessary support calibrations, maintenance, and repairs including building equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain the yearly budget of internal and third-party testing.
  • Adhere to Company standards and objectives, such as safety, 5S, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct and maintain the yearly continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for testing operations.
  • Strict adherence to all internal compliance standards and compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Effectively communicate with peers, team members, customers, suppliers, and technical staff.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practice.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understand job tools, equipment, and abilities necessary to complete testing assignments.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced math skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have proficient PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and follow all Toyo quality and safety standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution in mechanical engineering or equivalent. 2 years of experience tire testing experience preferred.
