Professional Engineer, Civil - Transportation

At TKDA, our Roadway & Utilities team is at the forefront of maintaining and improving Minnesota’s infrastructure.


As a Professional Civil Engineer, you will support & lead impactful projects that enhance community connectivity and safety. You will lead design and project coordination throughout the full cycle of a variety of roadway and municipal projects from feasibility studies, initial design, final design to supervising construction of design. Projects include roadway design, traffic analysis, pavement management, utilities coordination, and transportation planning for both urban and rural roadways.

Any travel would be related to site visits or community meetings within the Duluth and northland area.


Flexible work arrangement (3 days in office / 2 days WFH)


Responsibilities
  • Lead design for Roadway & Utilities / Municipal projects
  • Lead projects to improve the infrastructure of MN communities
  • Work with regulatory agencies, and knowledge of the permit application process with FEMA, DOT, DNR, and state / local government entities
  • Apply effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills when developing proposals, negotiating project contracts, preparing technical reports, leading project team meetings, and delivering client presentations
  • Optimize planning, design, and construction activities to control costs and mitigate risks
  • Collaborate with the Civil Group Manager, Market Managers, and the Vice President of Surface Transportation Engineering.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing plans
  • Cultivate and maintain relations with clients and agency representatives
  • Track prospective opportunities
  • Deliver client presentations
  • Travel for site visits or community meetings within the Duluth and northland area


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota
  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of related experience supporting design and inspection for roadways, highways, sidewalks, utilities and/or other municipal projects
  • Strong working knowledge of the project development process including coordination with other disciplines during design and construction
  • Experience and understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D used to develop concept plans, grading plans, and designs
  • Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) reviews for civil projects
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record


Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional registration in additional states with a preference of Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Iowa
  • Experience in utilities coordination related to design, location verification and relocation


$84,625 - $108,425 a year
The listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 5-10 years of related experience. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
