Trainee - Application Security - Digital and Technology Partners, Req#3000156
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as an Application Security Intern. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to the security of our organization's applications. As an intern, you will work closely with our experienced application security professionals and have access to a wide range of learning resources.
Responsibilities
- Assist with security assessments and penetration testing of our applications to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure that secure coding practices and security requirements are integrated into the software development life cycle.
- Assist in the design and implementation of security controls, tools, and technologies to enhance application security.
- Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and tools related to application security.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training materials on secure coding practices for developers.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest application security trends, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or greater depending on department and role.
- None, though some administrative exposure is a plus
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of web application architecture, protocols, and common security vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of security tools and frameworks used in application security testing is a plus.
- A passion for cybersecurity and a desire to learn and grow in the field of application security.

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $15.00 - $30.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
