Seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Senior Healthcare Subject Matter Expert (SME) to play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare informatics projects within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This position requires a deep understanding of health informatics, clinical data reconciliation, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and medical data coding standards. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in healthcare-related projects, with a strong emphasis on leveraging data to improve patient care and operational efficiency within the VA. This role involves leading subject matter expertise, guiding analysis sessions, defining user requirements, and providing strategic advice to project teams.

Primary Responsibilities:- Healthcare Informatics Leadership: Provide leading subject matter expertise in healthcare informatics to support and enhance VA healthcare-related projects. Utilize extensive knowledge in health information management to guide project teams and stakeholders.
- Clinical Data Reconciliation: Lead efforts in reconciling VA clinical data from disparate sources, employing knowledge of ontologies, taxonomies, and semantics. Facilitate the adoption and implementation of clinical data exchange formats such as FHIR, Blue Button, and CCDA.
- EHR Medical Data Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in Electronic Health Record Medical Data, including familiarity with the Veterans Affairs Schedule for Rating Disabilities (VASRD), to support the development and implementation of EHR systems.
- Health Data Repository (HDR) Utilization: Leverage experience with the VA Health Data Repository to enhance data access, analysis, and reporting capabilities, contributing to informed decision-making and improved healthcare outcomes.
- VA Informatics Infrastructure: Apply knowledge of VA Informatics and Computing Infrastructure to support the integration, analysis, and management of healthcare data across VA systems.
- Coding Standards Proficiency: Utilize experience with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding to support accurate data documentation, billing, and reporting processes.
Minimum Requirements:- Master’s degree or higher in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or equivalent discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in healthcare informatics, with significant projects experience within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- 1+ years of experience providing subject matter expertise in healthcare-related projects, including guiding analysis sessions and defining user requirements.
- 1+ years of experience in clinical data reconciliation using ontologies, taxonomies, semantics, etc., from disparate sources, and in clinical data exchange formats such as FHIR, Blue Button, and CCDA.
- 1+ years of experience with Electronic Health Record Medical Data, VASRD, VA Health Data Repository (HDR), VA Informatics and Computing Infrastructure, CPT Coding, and ICD Coding.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex healthcare data and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment.
- Deep understanding of the VA’s healthcare systems, data, and processes, with the ability to navigate and influence within the VA ecosystem.

$157,000 - $175,000 a year
