Hybrid role at HQ Needham MA

Tripadvisor is recruiting an attorney to serve as Legal Counsel for commercial deals, digital advertising campaigns and agreements, and licensing matters, joining the company's global legal team. This position will support and provide transactional related advice to the company’s various business units focused on interacting with clients, advertising agencies, vendors and customers.  

This position will work closely with, and report directly to, the Senior Corporate Counsel responsible for similar commercial deals to those described above. This position will be tethered to Tripadvisor's global headquarters in Needham, Massachusetts, but candidates throughout the United States and United Kingdom are encouraged to apply given Tripadvisor's commitment to hybrid work.

As Legal Counsel, your responsibilities will include:

• providing legal support for a variety of Tripadvisor’s global business teams, including: Sales, Marketing, Business-to-Business Solutions, Analytics & Research, Product, and others;

• providing prompt legal advice and support on a wide variety of legal topics related to media buying, advertising, data, creative services, online campaigns, promotions, sweepstakes, and marketing materials and programs;

• embedding within Tripadvisor’s in-house advertising agency, in order to assist with new campaign ideas and execution thereof;

• drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including, multimedia advertising sales, advertising technology, data collection and use, research and analytics, integrated marketing, branded and custom content, influencer marketing, out-of-home and social media platforms, sponsorships and promotions, programmatic advertising, venue license agreements, production services agreements, and non-disclosure agreements;

• ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations;

• providing strategic legal and business advice to help develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to legal issues/risks; 

• working closely with other lawyers in the Legal Department (in Needham, MA, and globally) in a collaborative manner; and

• engaging and managing outside counsel.

What are we looking for?

• 4-6 years of experience, preferably with both law firm and in-house corporate experience, with experience in handling commercial agreements, sales, digital media, content creation, data, privacy, and analytics-related matters.

• Current state bar membership is sufficient to enable you to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or another state.

• Strong work ethic and ability to balance, prioritize, and follow through on numerous agreements and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Self-starter and able to work well independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking.

• Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second European language (Spanish, French, Italian, or German) is a plus, but not required.
