Sr. Staff Process Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

We are seeking a versatile controls engineer to troubleshoot and improve our existing electrolysis systems, and develop the next generation of controls software for our future projects. You will work alongside engineers and researchers to develop controls for first-of-a-kind electrolyzers for both R&D and commercial systems. The ideal candidate is passionate about designing flexible and intuitive interfaces, robust control loops, and well-thought-out software and hardware that makes it easy to co-develop solutions with fellow engineers.

Location details

  • Hybrid, expected minimum 3 days/week onsite.

  • Primary work location: Alameda (occasional onsite work in Berkeley)

  • 10% Travel (Moses Lake, Tulsa)

What you will do

  • Design, build, troubleshoot, and improve controls for first-of-a-kind CO2 electrolysis systems.

  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers to develop new capabilities.

  • Develop process controls for pilot and commercial scale plants.

  • Get hands-on with controls hardware and software.

Who you are

  • Process controls experience, including participating in HAZOPs and working with process control narratives.

  • Experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation products.

  • Experience designing and building HMIs.

  • Strong understanding of control loop tuning.

  • Strong understanding of process instrumentation selection criteria.

  • Experience with DCS systems.

At Twelve, it's important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements, Twelve conducts exhaustive research to understand compensation markets. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level. 

United States Wage Range: $184,000 - $230,000

Please note that some pay bands may have wide ranges of compensation to accommodate candidate's diverse sets of skill levels.
