Asset Management Sales Engineer

Southwest Valve & Equipment builds the bridge between large scale water projects and the essential equipment needed to get the job done. We understand the difference between the “correct” product for the application and a product that will “just work” for the application. A correct product incorporates longevity of service; takes into account the environment of installation, system continuity, minimizing MRO, and where applicable, modifications to standard product offerings to customize the operation for the required service.


We are hiring an Asset Management Sales Engineer in Central or Southern California. This position requires extensive travel throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii.



What you will do:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers, agents, and distributors working in the municipal and/or private water utilities to promote sales and solutions represented by Southwest Valve & Equipment.
  • Generate sales among customer accounts, includes upselling and cross-selling.
  • Travel up to 60% of the time within an assigned sales territory. Territory will include California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii.
  • Design solutions with pressure and leak monitoring technologies and services.
  • Prepare quotes, technical proposals, technical presentations, RFP, and tender responses.
  • Negotiate and close sales / tenders, and after-sales support services / follow up.
  • Record and maintain client contact data and sales activities through company CRM system (QuickBase).
  • Attend conferences, publish technical papers, and case studies.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth project transition and delivery.


Background/ Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of exceeding established sales quotas.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a technical and or/ sales roles.  
  • Water/wastewater industry experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently to drive sales in assigned territory.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience using a CRM. We use QuickBase.
  • Maintain a residence in Southern or Central California.
  • Proficient in Solution Selling methodology is preferred.
  • Technical experience in pressure management, non-revenue water management, water loss analysis, leak detection, asset management, or pipeline condition assessment is preferred.


Compensation:
  • This position offers a base salary and commission. $90,000-$120,000 base depending on experience.


Our employees have detailed working knowledge of potable and recycled water systems, water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs and flow control facilities. Southwest Valve & Equipment’s knowledge base provides engineering firms and end users design support for their projects with the correct products for the application.
