Who we are
Whāraurau works to improve the mental health and wellbeing of infants, children, adolescents and youth and those who care for them, by providing workforce development within the mental health and addiction sector in Aotearoa. Through UniServices, a wholly owned social impact company of Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, we are contracted by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and the Ministry of Education to grow the capacity and capability of the infant, child, adolescent, youth and whānau mental health and addictions workforces. We offer a range of e‑Learning courses, training, webinars and service supports that are government funded and free to access.
A great opportunity to step into this national Poutohu Māori | Māori Advisor in Māori Mental Health and AoD, in a permanent fulltime role in either of the above locations. This role will provide cultural support and guidance to the Whāraurau team across all projects. You will apply your Māori cultural expertise and lense to Whāraurau’s professional learning and development (PLD) activities. You will guide the integration of Māori models, practices, values and approaches into the design and development of PLD training resources and workshops for practitioners working with pēpi, tamariki, taiohi and whānau. You will demonstrate an ability to weave and hold a Taha Māori world view in training programmes you design and deliver, that will grow our PLD under Te Tiriti and ultimately improve outcomes for our young people and whānau.
You will have experience in infant, child, and youth mental health and addictions working in partnership with their whānau. You will demonstrate project management and delivery capability alongside your facilitation and delivery of training in mental health and wellbeing approaches. This is a great opportunity to work for a positive and passionate purpose, whilst gaining exposure to national projects of significance that genuinely make a difference.
