Job Description

SUMMARY:   

Under general supervision provides clerical, business, information management and receptionist duties to the nursing units.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:   

This job has no supervisory responsibility.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR POSITION TITLE:   

Manager, Nursing

Qualifications

The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position.  The specific job duties may be changed by the department manager with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

High school diploma or equivalent required. 

Ability to utilize computer and fax machine required. 

One year experience in clerical position preferred. 

Medical Terminology preferred.

CONDITIONS: 

The new hire or transfer employee will remain within this job category for a probationary period of six months.  With a satisfactory criteria based performance evaluation, the employee will advance to a regular status employee.  If the evaluation is not satisfactory, the employee will be terminated.

SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient and departmental documents is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with patients, physicians, health system officials, other health system personnel and the general public is essential.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:   

Ability to work with simple mathematical concepts and pass mathematics test.

REASONING ABILITY:   

Ability to identify problems, collect data and seek intervention by clinical nurse appropriately.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:    

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Will work in a clean, well-lighted environment.  Requires sitting approximately 80% of the time, walking and standing 20% of time and requires occasional bending and reaching and carrying of reports weighing up to 10 lbs. 20% of the time.
