Community Outreach Director

This position will serve as the OK-INBRE Community Outreach Director and serves as interface between department/center and hospital partners on interactions with industry, community, and tribal partners. Increasing visibility, serving on committees, community councils, assisting and developing federal and community grants and providing oversight. They will develop budgets, promotional materials, host visiting groups, collect data, conduct analysis and prepare reports.Duties:• Implements strategies and coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure strategies are reflected in the programs and initiatives to build support for the program• Provides updates to department leadership and other key stakeholders to help them understand issues, trends, and opportunities• Directs and manages a community outreach program teams and staff• Coordinates outreach of internal and external events with community, tribal, and internal partners.• Assists in developing federal and community grants, provides oversight this includes full participation in grant writing and development activities• Develops and administers program budgets and ensure compliance to the grant and university policies and procedures• Designs and develops instructional and promotional materials in collaboration with central marketing.• Collects event and outreach data, conducts analysis, prepares reports this includes creating, managing, and preparing regular data science reports for updates and program use• Submission of an NSF or NIH type sponsored grant proposal for enhancing STEM activities in the community.Required Education: Ph.D, AND:• 60 months working with the community, STEM development, federal and local grant writing or related field.Skills:• Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively with various individuals and groups• Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.• Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, volunteers, partner organizations, faculty, students, and the public.• Ability to multi-task and adapt to demanding and changing timelines.• Effective presentation and facilitation skills.• Ability to work independently and as a team member.• Working knowledge of administration of community events and grant writing• Highly organized, detail oriented, and strong networking skills.Certifications: NoneWorking Conditions:• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.• Ability to engage in repetitive motions.• Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.Why You Belong at the University of Oklahoma: The University of Oklahoma fosters an inclusive culture of respect and civility, belonging, and access, which are essential to our collective pursuit of excellence and our determination to change lives.
