Student - AI Program Developer for AI Tutor Project

The AI Tutor project is an innovative educational initiative aimed at integrating an AI-driven tutoring system within the Canvas learning management system. The goal is to enhance student interaction with course materials, leveraging AI technology for a more engaging learning experience. This project is at the forefront of educational technology and aims to set a precedent for future AI integration in various academic settings. Project Parameters: Maximum of 20 hours per week from September 2024 to the end of May 2025.• Collaborate with the Technical Team, under the guidance of Dr. Ahmed Alsharif, in developing the AI-based tutoring system.• Ensure the system’s compatibility with multiple AI service providers and its adaptability to different courses.• Actively participate in the integration of the AI system into the Canvas platform.• Contribute to the pilot testing of the project in the Tech1010 course, including data collection and analysis.• Assist in the evaluation of the system’s effectiveness in enhancing student learning and engagement, and in the expansion of the AI Tutor’s capabilities.• Must be a current student at UVU.• Enrolled in a technology-related program (Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, etc.).• Demonstrated interest and aptitude in software development, AI, and educational technologies.• Proficiency in Python programming and software development.• Familiarity with AI service providers and AI-driven application development.• Ability to work with educational content and integrate it into technology platforms.• Effective communication skills for collaboration with both technical and academic teams.
