Job Details:
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
Purpose: Assist in directing and managing the overall planning and administration of the Fitness/Wellness Program, providing day-to-day and on-site coordination of its programs, services, systems, policies and procedures, personnel, and resources.
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Bachelor's degree and experience in a college-level recreational sports program. Experience in fitness and wellness administration, event coordination, personnel administration and/or managing recreation programs. A successful candidate possesses exceptional interpersonal, mentoring, leadership, motivational, accountability, time management and multi-tasking skills. Ability to think critically and strategically. Excellent written and verbal communication, public relations, organizational and planning skills. Technical proficiency. Current ACSM, AFAA or ACE primary certification in group exercise and or personal training.
Master's degree in Recreation, Exercise Physiology, Sports Administration, Student Personnel Administration or a closely related field. At least one year of experience administering a Fitness/Wellness Program or a two-year graduate assistantship in campus recreation that included a broader overview of a Fitness/Wellness program. Experience performing outreach and event planning. Experience in a university level recreational sports program similar in size and scope of UT Austin. Involvement with NIRSA or Fitness related organization.

Comply with departmental and university policies and procedures, and all other university and system rules and regulations. Security sensitive position. Position is a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Clery Act and University policy, and a Responsible Employee pursuant to Title IX, SB212, and University policy.
The role involves occasional exposure to varying weather conditions. The position requires manual dexterity, lifting, and moving objects, as well as the ability to work in environments with alarms, large crowds, dust, and noise, including construction noise. The work area may occasionally be windowless, and there may be brief exposure to chemical fumes. The position also requires frequent use of a keyboard, repetitive hand movements, climbing stairs, and other manual tasks as part of daily duties.
Work under stress, as a team member and independently and with overlapping projects. Maintain ability to interact cooperatively with staff and participants, work with limited direction, communicate effectively both in written and verbal form, be flexible, be resourceful and use initiative, be supervised, adhere to university policies and procedures, organize time and documents effectively, perform multiple tasks, and function capably in a complex organizational structure with fast-paced working conditions. Ability to provide leadership, problem solve, supervise others, delegate tasks, make independent judgments, maintain confidentiality, maintain professional demeanor, and maintain knowledge required to perform professional duties.
Frequently work evenings and weekends, occasionally without advance notice. Occasional holiday work. Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace required. Occasional intrastate and interstate travel. Security sensitive position. Position is exempt A&P and subject to HOP 5-2420.
