This is a hybrid role working from one of our London hubs 2 days per week. This is a Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave.

We're seeking a Head of Internal Communications to lead the charge in crafting and delivering impactful communications that inspire, inform, and engage our teams here at UW. Your mission? To be the champion of our people -  driving connection, clarity, and a shared purpose across every level of our organisation - helping to deliver on our plans for growth.

  • You are an experienced communications leader - a dynamic, data-driven and strategic thinker who is passionate about getting the right results that make a real and tangible difference;
  • Strong business acumen, with a proven ability to create and execute communication strategies aligned with business goals and priorities;
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing senior leadership and cross-functional teams;
  • A people leader who can manager a team of 6 communications expert to deliver exceptional communications, at scale;
  • Skilled in measuring communication ROI to demonstrate impact;
  • Comfortable driving engagement in fast-paced, high-growth environments - juggling multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines, without sacrificing quality;
  • An expert in crafting clear, concise messaging for complex subjects that inspire and align teams and you'll still love getting your hands on pure Communications work;
  • Experience in leading communications during periods of transformation, change and growth;
  • You have an innovative mindset – always looking for ways to improve how UW communicates with and engages employees;
  • Deep understanding of employee engagement principles and tools, with proven success in building initiatives that create belonging, motivation, and shared purpose;
  • Strong organisational skills to oversee company-wide campaigns and initiatives - helping to connect the dots and create the best possible experience for our people.

You'll be available for a new role from March 2025 for a 9 month FTC.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team made up of good people, doing good things.

You will be a key member of the Business Leadership Group (top 50 leaders) and People Leadership team, reporting to the Chief People Officer. You will be responsible for leading the internal communications team across UW for nine months maternity cover.

The Internal Communications team is the engine room for communications across the business. Operating at pace, they expertly balance priorities, respond swiftly to evolving business needs, and keep our people connected, informed, and engaged.

As the Head of Internal Communications, you will be the strategic leader driving meaningful connection and engagement across our growing business. You’ll develop and execute dynamic communication strategies that align with our goals, inspire our teams, and foster a culture of transparency, inclusion and shared purpose. 

Partnering closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, you’ll craft compelling messaging, manage internal channels, and lead impactful campaigns that inform, engage, and empower employees. From navigating change to celebrating achievements and amplifying employee voices, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how our people connect to our culture, brand and strategy.

What you’ll do

  • In support of our business priorities and plans for growth, deliver our FY26 internal communications strategy - regularly reviewing and adapting the plan to support growth, change, and employee engagement.
  • Help our business, and our people, navigate ongoing change as we continue to grow and scale through transparent and authentic communications.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team on all internal communication matters - providing them with communication counsel and support and equipping them to deliver impactful messaging.
  • Drive cultural shifts and embed a high-performance mindset through impactful communications.
  • Partner with our Marketing Leadership team to align messaging and amplify key initiatives across internal audiences.
  • Lead initiatives to foster a culture of inclusion, belonging, and transparency - overseeing internal campaigns that celebrate our collective achievements, amplify employee voices, and align teams around a shared vision and brand strategy.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, compelling content across all internal channels - ensuring messaging is consistent, engaging, and aligned with the company’s brand and culture.
  • Continue to optimise internal communication platforms - ensuring employees have access to the right information at the right time through appropriate channels.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communication efforts using data and employee feedback - continuously refining strategies to improve engagement, reach, and message clarity.
  • Manage an in-house and agency team to pull together the strategy, content plan and overall management of our end of year People Leader event.
