Position Summary
You have knowledge of research methods, you have a variety of techniques for analyzing raw data. Your analysis is grounded in the social sciences and industry-leading best practices. and you understand that your research contributes and lays the groundwork to the rest of the UX processes. Your insights inform UX design by helping guide its direction throughout your process. Research is not an end unto itself. You might not consider yourself a designer, but you have a solid awareness of design principles and standards.
You appreciate feedback and support from fellow researchers, designers, engineers, analysts, or product managers in our cross functional environment. You enjoy collaborative effort, taking feedback and input to your research proposals as a means of improving the end result. You are as comfortable influencing business leadership as you are your product leadership and individual contributors. You are the customer and user advocate. You drive innovation by championing actionable user insights, deeply understanding our customers, enhancing product usability, and providing our team avenues to delight our customers. You communicate effectively and share a point of view that guides quality decisions.
You can use your wide-ranging experience to create novel yet implementable research plans to solve complex issues. Your work is high quality and sets the standard for UX research. You stay at the very forefront of the field and on top of the newest tools and methodologies. You’re aware of Information Architecture theory. You work with product roadmaps to plan advance research and identify gaps in user knowledge as it relates to new features or improvements and have worked closely with related disciplines on research strategies for complicated studies. You have a focus on educating colleagues on UX research practices and methodologies.
What You’ll Do
Leads strategic design and execution of user-centered research and usability studies that provide actionable insights which influence design and development of solutions
Leads support and evolution of User Experience Research functional capabilities including research tools, procedures and documentation, and data management
Collaborates and supports business areas and objectives that align to priorities and focus on client and user centricity.
Designs and executes user research using qualitative and quantitative methods.
Determines and recommends the most efficient and effective research approaches to solve for business needs and meet agreed-upon objectives, then guides business areas through the appropriate User Experience process.
Identifies and applies appropriate change management best practices and approach to build rapport, understand user needs, address resistance and reinforce key learnings or results.
User Experience project execution, including establishing and tracking User Experience project metrics and conducting evaluations.
Takes ownership for self-development, stays current with research techniques and tools in the field of User Experience.
Works with and provides supporting documentation to others that influences product, system or application development and implementation to ensure creation of efficient, sustainable and successful results.
25% Analysis - Synthesize raw data to create themes; Identify trends to understand confidence levels; Pull themes and trends to callout salient insights that can be utilized to inform design or process improvements
25% Delivery - Communicate insights that is consumable to relevant audiences; Collaborate with staff peers to frame a point of view to influence most effective impacts; Share broadly insights to peers and partners so that others can gain value; Document insights in the repository so that they are accessible
30% Execution - Coordinate and collaborate with product and business partners; Collect data according to the research plan; Ensure quality of data collection using best practices
20% Plans and Aligns - Work with partners to identify problem and scope; Consider the larger strategic outcomes beyond the direct problem; Guide the creation of or create plans that appropriately fill gaps in knowledge by identifying the right participants; Select methods that appropriately understand the gaps in knowledge

Qualifications
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
5-7 years of research experience in an Enterprise environment or degree in related field
5-7 years of experience working with agile software development teams
Desire to thrive in a fast-moving environment
Demonstrated ability to initiate and self- manage complex projects

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $105,626.00 - $158,438.00
F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
