Job description

We are looking for a hands-on team leader for our CI and test automation team. The team enables our software organization to develop, test, and ship software for our XR headsets. Your role is two-fold: improve our iteration speed by investing into development infrastructure and automation, and to enable and care for the DevOps and automation professionals doing this. You will be working closely with many engineering teams ranging from low level firmware development through various middleware to UI teams. Your deep understanding of CI pipelines and test automation with your dedication to continuous improvement will be crucial in shaping our automation strategy and fostering a culture of quality.

This is a full-time position located in Helsinki, Finland. We are supporting hybrid model; thus, you can be working remotely from other cities in Finland.  

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers to design, implement, and maintain robust and efficient CI pipelines and test automation, ensuring comprehensive coverage within our end-to-end pipelines.
• Drive the development and maintenance of the CI system. Provide architectural direction, ensure scalability and reliability, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead the development and evolution of the CI system, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Proactively identify and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies in CI pipeline. Analyze data, gather feedback, and implement solutions to optimize workflows
• Stay current with test automation trends and technologies, evaluating and recommending new tools and frameworks.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team. Encourage teamwork, facilitate communication, and promote professional development.
• Work closely with the QA lead to ensure seamless integration of automated tests into the overall QA strategy.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration between software and hardware engineering teams to develop and maintain integrated automation solutions that streamline the entire development process.

Our expectations

• Passion to lead and mentor a team of senior CI and automation engineers, providing technical guidance, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning
• A minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams in a software development environment.
• A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in the CI tools and testing frameworks including build
• We speak Python, Groovy and sh/cmd/powershell and we expect the same from you  
• Team player, ability to perform in cross-functional teams and to actively share knowledge with others  
• Excellent communication skills in English    

A big plus

• Experience in holistic software quality processes, including manual testing
• Past experience with Jenkins, Docker and Robot
• Working experience with Conan packaging, CMake, Artifactory, Ansible, Grafana  
• Linux administration experience  
• Some AWS/Kubernetes experience  
• Track record of shipping multiplatform products
