Overview


Ketchum is looking for a Vice President, Group Manager – Strategy.This individual will work across the Ketchum portfolio and across North America, translating data and discovery work into human truths, tensions, problem-solving, and insightful thinking. Immediate focus will be to help solidify and grow the Strategy practice through great work with the right clients and internal partners.

This role requires the ability to inspire and collaborate with teams across multiple practices and sectors. In addition, this position will contribute to the growing Global Strategy Community and share best practices, contribute thought leadership, evolve strategic and creative processes and tools, and create visibility for Ketchum’s strategic function with current and prospective clients.

About the Job

Responsibilities:

Strategy Development
  • Partner with account leads to develop programs that enhance / expand work with current clients and win new clients applying, among other skills: shaping the assignment, research briefs, trend, insight, & human truth identification, change challenges, strategic planning and creative concept development
    • Briefs, creative briefings, facilitation
    • Close collaboration with client, analytics, digital, media, influencer, and creative teams
  • Responsible for proactively driving and owning the work process to generate and sell-in creative, actionable and unique programs rooted in clear communication of ideas, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of client’s business and its end user
Senior Strategic Counsel
  • Assist client directors on key accounts / clients and new business pitches with
    • Planning process
    • Positioning and message development
  • Present and sell ideas to agency partners and clients
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with multiple clients, agency partners and internal stakeholders
  • Act as a catalyst to generate and embrace diversity of ideas and thinking across the team/client network
  • Work with account team to identify growth opportunities with client
Leadership Competencies

  • Act as brand and talent ambassador internally and externally, participate in development of special practice areas.
  • Agency resource and industry / subject matter expert for the Strategy practice
  • Ability to lead and drive to the best client solutions through ambiguity, and be flexible amid changing priorities

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
  • At least 10+ years of experience of agency, and/or corporate public relations experience.
  • Proven track record in growing business.
  • Ability to solve complex brand/client challenges; strong balance of traditional, innovative, experimental, shopper and digital/social experience; proven ability to creatively problem solve.
  • Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills required to lead a room of people and align around a clear and singular point of view.
  • Desirable insights and strategic planning development and oversight.
  • Agency experience required (Advertising, PR, Marketing Communications, Consultancy) or comparable in-house experience working with Communications clients.
  • Proven experience in working with clients at the CMO, CCO and other C-Suite levels.
  • Ability to lead and drive to the best client solutions through ambiguity and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Experience in analyzing, distilling, summarizing, and making use of data, research, and analytics
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit with vision and leadership to enact change
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships clients, colleagues and partners
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills; captivating presenter, storyteller and great listener; strong negotiating, persuasion and diplomacy skills

The salary range for this position is $155,000 to $185,000. This position may be bonus eligible depending on individual employee performance and Ketchum business performance. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, past training, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity and local geographic market data. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.This position may be bonus eligible depending on individual employee performance and Ketchum business performance.
