Job Description

As a Technology Leader in the Risk and Identity Solutions division at Visa, you will be part of our Risk Solutions team to help design, enhance and build our transactional Fraud detection engine in an agile development environment. You will work with colleagues, who will support and challenge you daily. You will take leadership roles working on multiple projects building full stack development of real-time transactional services, RESTful APIs and Container based distributed services that are highly available, secure, scalable, and resilient. You will spearhead development of next generation software based on machine learning and deep learning. We believe in self-managing Agile teams who build products end to end focusing on unit testing, code reviews and continuous integration for excellent code quality. You will see the code written and moved to production within just a few days, to then be used by a huge customer base. You will be driving innovation that makes our products stand apart from our competitors and delight the customer with accelerated time-to-market delivery.

 

You are a trusted technology advisor and thought leader working with architects, DEV leads, product managers, security architects, and other partners across the organization in ensuring that what we build is secure, scalable, performant, and reliable.  Every technology and software that you have touched in the past, you have become an SME at with a deep level of understanding how it worked and are able to incorporate this in the most optimize form.

Essential Functions

  • Design infrastructure that is reliable, performant, and fault tolerant
  • Build expertise in developing highly available, reliable, and scalable solutions
  • Ensure security, reliability, performance and cost effectiveness of the Risk platform
  • Collaborate with the product management, other VISA IT groups and vendors to develop solutions for complex, global business requirements
  • Establish architectural and technical standards and processes, ensure adherence to them through governance
  • Evaluate and identify appropriate technology solutions to meet business and technology challenges, guide product development teams through their implementation
  • Keep abreast of evolving technologies and anticipate technological evolutions that could be leveraged to enhance current architectures
  • Design solutions involving moving existing applications and services to the cloud (public and hybrid).
  • Champion technology innovation
  • Create Projects, Features, and Stories for Technology driven projects and initiatives
  • Evaluate and develop PoCs for new technologies
  • Mentor and groom developers
  • Guide teams in building reusable libraries and frameworks
  • Prepare technical material and give technical presentations to stakeholders
  • Lead and build scalable and distributed services that will help power the AI infrastructure for deep learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
  • Be a technical leader on various projects across the platform and be a major contributor of the entire platform’s architecture.
  • Drive development effort End-to-End for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable coding and security standards.
  • Troubleshoot Production Issues as needed by working closely with Product and Support Teams

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
Experience in architecture and design of distributed, highly scalable, highly available systems
10+ years of technical lead in all phases of software development life cycle
Experience in Java software development, web applications and services, Spring, technology standards and frameworks, knowledge on Google Go and AWS is a plus
You are a Java expert experienced with REST APIs and container-based technologies. Strong on elegant designing, can write very solid prototypes or core components quickly.
Experience in UI technologies, JQuery/JavaScript standards including ES6, HTML5, CSS3 and CSS4, Redux, Riot.js and React.js, D3 is a plus
Experience in migrating applications to the cloud (AWS, or GCP, or MS Azure) is a plus.
Good experience in Kafka, Cassandra, Spark, Flink , distributed cache.
Hands on experience on containers and orchestration platform such as docker, Kubernetes
Knowledge on cloud infrastructure and cost-effective platform such as AWS , AZURE.
Experience in microservices architecture and database shading of a large-scale project.
Experience developing large scale, enterprise class distributed system or subsystems that require high availability, low latency, & strong data consistency computing
Experience implementing solutions for low-latency, distributed services using open standard technologies.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear & concise way, a team player with a strong work ethic
You have proven experience as a technical leader with ability to understand the requirements and independently, architect, design and build the solution.
You have the passion to work with people and help mentor your juniors to reach new heights.
Passion for Big Data and analytics in general leveraging technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Solr, MapReduce.
Work experience with AWS is a plus.
You have work and academic experience that will demonstrate proficiency and ease with programming languages, code quality initiatives, scripting languages and operating systems.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 160,600.00 to 232,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
