Job Summary
A VoIP/Telecom Engineer will design, build, and implement telecom systems across the enterprise. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all telecom and circuit connections, corporate servers, associated software, and communication links. This position will also troubleshoot telecom performance issues, as well as analyze traffic and provide capacity planning solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
• Support and maintain a large, complex and highly resilient Cisco based enterprise IP voice communications infrastructure.
- Configure and implement calling search spaces, route plans, route partitions, route lists and device profiles.
- Perform system maintenance, support capacity planning activities and complete configuration change actions and documentation efforts.
- Utilize foundational knowledge of SIP signaling and call-flows to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems
- Manage, configure, troubleshoot remote site registration, signaling and media problems.
- Develop technical policy, work instructions and reporting in support of an enterprise IP telephony network.
- Validate change requests and ensure accuracy.
- Must be organized, document oriented, possess skills in diagramming, and understand WAN principals.
Desired Education/Experience
Associates Degree
- 3+ years of relevant VoIP/Telecom Engineering experience.
- CCNP Voice (CCVP) or equivalent knowledge of VoIP technologies
Desired Skills
• Experience with one or multiple Cisco voice platforms including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity, Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE), Cisco Contact Center (UCCX)
- Expertise in SIP signaling and call flow.
- Working knowledge of Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) including associated G.711 and G.729 codecs and Digital Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF)
- Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting QoS classification, marking and prioritization of network traffic (voice, critical applications, etc.)
