Job Summary:Our mission is to provide affordable legal access and identity protection for all, through the interface of leading-edge technology! We are enabling that mission with a new suite of products built on React Native and React that communicate via REST to dotnet-based microservices running in the cloud. That is where you come in! Come join us in the Frontend Platform corner of the Engineering team and make a difference!The Engineering department at PPLSI (aka LegalShield) is the cornerstone of all technology and product focused developments for the company. We are a diverse and skillful team encompassing software engineering, data engineering, quality assurance (QA), and technical program management for the company. We partner closely with peers across product management, design, IT, and business stakeholders. Together we work to create, preserve, and improve well-functioning, well-designed, multi-platform systems and products for both internal and external customers. If you thrive in a collaborative environment of talented, supportive, results-driven, and customer-focused teammates, this is the place for you!Responsibilities:The Software Engineer in this role can expect to:• Implement UI primitives spanning web and mobile (contributing to internal open-source frameworks)• Implement products used by external customers and service providers• Display deep passion and understanding of the customer scenarios and needs• Write reliable and tested code including unit testing and CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery) pipeline contributions• Engage in ongoing personal study of modern technologies, especially as applicable to quality assurance• Participate in daily scrums, story creation/sizing/updating• Track problems, resolutions, and bug fixes throughout testing and create a comprehensive database of defects and successful mitigation techniques• Communicate clearly and effectively with team membersQualifications:Required:• 2+ years of relevant work experience• Experience with web technologies spanning React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node, and relatedPreferred (helpful but not required):• Proficiency with dotnet (.Net) core framework• Experience with relational database technology (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, or equivalent)• Well-rounded experience with multiple operating systems, virtualization technologies, and test environments• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldAdditional Information:Performance OutcomesDevelopment of Products or SystemsThe Software Engineer is an entry-level engineer who is learning the tools and processes for developing quality software at scale. They are still developing expertise in an initial area of the development process (e.g., frontend or backend). Within an area this may be limited to one or two approaches. They can contribute to the design and architecture of the system but are typically following the lead of others. The Software Engineer will focus on an individual component of a product or system. They will be learning how this system interacts with other components. Their work will largely be focused on individual tasks and tickets. They will think about features mostly within the current sprint. They will largely work from tickets and tasks as assigned by their team leads, focusing on efficiency and learning the development process along the way.Engagement and CollaborationThe Software Engineer will work intricately with their teammates and may also collaborate with neighboring teams’ software engineers, product managers, and others. They will welcome and seek opportunities to learn and grow from more senior engineers as they also continue to develop their skills.Physical Requirements/ Work EnvironmentEmployee must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, with the physical ability to work at the computer or other sedentary tasks for long periods of time. Employee can conduct duties discreetly and impartially. If working remotely, employee is able to work in a space that allows them to effectively complete their job tasks, including having reliable internet connectivity and the ability to participate effectively while on phone and video calls.
