Staff Frontend Engineer

We're looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our frontend infrastructure, ensuring that our authentication and authorization libraries are robust, scalable, and developer-friendly. You will collaborate across teams, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and championing best practices to drive our projects forward.

You will be joining a team of talented engineers that share a common interest in building quality features to help our customers succeed. You will get a chance to apply and grow your engineering skills to help bring local companies closer to the people they serve.

Our teams are cross-functional agile teams composed of a product manager, back-end, and front-end engineers. Teams are highly autonomous with the ownership and ability to act in Weave’s best interest. Above all, your work will impact the way our customers experience Weave, while working closely with a highly skilled team to accomplish varying goals and cultivate our phenomenal culture.  

  • This position will be prioritizing local UT candidates. However, we're open to remote candidates located in the US if experience aligns.

  • Reports to: Engineering Manager

What You Will Own

  • Build features targeting Weave's client application using web technologies (TypeScript/React/HTML/CSS)

  • Work closely with designers, backend developers, and product managers to translate design mockups and wireframes into functional, user-friendly web pages

  • Conduct thorough testing of applications, identify bugs, and fix them efficiently. Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability

  • Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring the best possible performance across a variety of devices and browsers

  • Lead the maintenance and enhancement of our authentication and authorization experience, ensuring its APIs are well designed and documented for other developers to use and a smooth experience for our customers.

  • Provide architectural guidance and technical direction across multiple teams, ensuring cohesive and scalable solutions.

  • Mentor and support engineers across various teams, helping them grow their technical skills and understanding of best practices.

  • Establish and enforce development standards, practices, and tooling to improve code quality and developer productivity.

  • Tackle vague and loosely defined problems and develop innovative solutions that have a broad impact on the organization.

  • Identify and solve large-scale problems within the department, creating solutions that accelerate development for all teams.

What You Will Need to Accomplish the Job

  • 8+ years experience developing rich applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other web technologies

  • 6+ years experience with at least one or more modern web application frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.)

  • Experience with building high-performance, reusable code, e.g. UI components

  • Proven experience in building, maintaining, and evolving authentication and authorization systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on creating scalable solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.

  • A hungry desire to solve meaningful problems for customers

  • Experience with consuming RESTful APIs

  • Experience with debugging
