Job Description

Use Your Strengths at Wellmark as a Sales Learning & Development Consultant! 

Our Sales Training & Enablement team strives to empower our sales organization to be the very best. Their work ranges from creating and documenting routine processes and procedures to cutting-edge initiatives that support our goal of creating a sustainable health care environment. We take pride in the work we produce as it supports both internal and external audiences. 

As a Sales Learning & Development Consultant, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and measurement of learning and development solutions using a variety of delivery methods for internal sales and account management teams, as well as external brokers/agencies. You will collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to create measurable objectives and tools for the training. You will deliver training that reflects adult learning principles, accelerated learning techniques, and is catered to the target audience(s). You’ll also perform administrative support tasks as necessary, including maintaining training supplies and materials, coordinating facilities, developing agendas and coordinating activities for formal training programs. 

Ideal candidates have experience working with licensed agents in the Medicare, Individual, and Small Group Plan markets. Having a life and health license is a plus. This role will have the opportunity to train on products, consultative selling, and relationship management topics. From change management to coaching to solution identification, design and implementation – the ability to understand and meet the needs of your stakeholders through learning and development efforts energizes you on a day-to-day basis. No matter the makeup of the audience, your strengths are maximized when you put your finely tuned learning expertise and consulting skills to work. You have demonstrated success managing projects within a dynamic work environment and are effective at adapting to change. Lastly, you identify as intellectually curious, and have a knack for asking probing questions that uncover better information, leading to more effective results.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or direct and applicable work experience. 
  • 4+ years of experience with the design and facilitation of training programs. This includes the ability to manage projects, consult and partner with subject matter experts to elicit content, and develop user-friendly instructional materials. 
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively facilitate instructor-led training to diverse audiences. Polished, professional and engaging in delivery with ability to encourage discussion and engagement in participants. 
  • Effective planning, time management, prioritization and organization skills. Flexible and adaptable with changing priorities. Ability to multi-task and manage projects independently. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate relationships. Ability to give and take feedback in a constructive manner, and to foster cooperation and collaboration across teams. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office. 
  • Valid Driver’s License with limited travel 20-30% 

Preferred: 

  • Master’s Degree. 
  • Marketing research and competitive intelligence experience. 
  • Technical writing and creation of sales collateral.   
  • Health insurance industry experience. 
  • Experience working in sales with understanding of consultative selling and relationship management techniques. 
  • Experience with developing project plans and leading implementations. 
  • Learning Management System (LMS), Adobe Captivate, MS Project, GoToWebinar or related technical experience. 

Additional Information

a. Lead learning and development efforts to include process improvement, change management, solution identification, design, implementation and success measurement. 
 
b. Consult with and conduct needs analysis with various stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create and/or deliver learning and development solutions to meet the needs of the Sales organization. 
 
c. Provide team member development through coaching and mentoring opportunities. 
 
d. Design and deliver content to ensure learning objectives and outcomes are met, content is relevant to audience, and educational sessions are delivered timely, effectively and within budget. 
 
e. Incorporate adult learning methods and principles as appropriate including online training courses, webinars, conferences calls, and just-in-time communications. 
 
f. Use multiple applications to design and develop learning and development solutions PPT, Word, Excel, Web applications, Wellmark systems, etc. Ensure the associated materials are updated for content and design changes. 
 
g. Communicate with leadership about resources to meet the need of the Sales organization. 
 
h. Create and maintain project plans, communication plans, stakeholder and risk analysis and other project management deliverables. 
 
i. Coordinate, track and evaluate effectiveness of the learning and development solution design and delivery through classroom interaction, surveys and assessments. Communicate results to leadership and sales organization. Make recommendations for improvement. Continually update and develop learning and development solutions based on feedback. 
 
j. Coordinate and/or maintain classroom materials, supplies and internal/external facilities. 
 
k. Collaborate with peers, stakeholders and leadership. 
 
l. Other duties as assigned.
