OverviewCertified PlannerWestwood Professional Services, Inc.Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Planner to join our team in our Frisco, TX office. The position will work in a collaborative and integrated team of professionals that include landscape architects, civil engineers, planners, surveyors, environmental scientists, and transportation engineers. The primary responsibilities for the Planner include plan production and technical document creation across the South region for service deliverables related to land planning, client and city review and coordination through entitlement and permit process, and cross selling and business development. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.Duties And Responsibilities• Review and interpret regulatory codes, ordinances, and comprehensive plans.• Review and analyze land features relating to opportunities, constraints, and layout options for development.• Prepare due diligence analysis, land development concepts, master development plans, and graphic illustrations using both digital and hand drawn formats.• Work with senior certified planners to develop and refine design solutions.• Use in depth knowledge of land planning theory and concepts in preparing land development concepts and master development plans.• Participate in project meetings with staff, clients, & regulatory agencies.• Assist in editing technical plans, details, and specifications.• Visit construction sites to gather information, review design intent, inform and support senior project team members during the construction phase.• Use in depth knowledge of entitlement procedures and required regulatory approvals.• Stay current on service-specific trends, technology, software, hardware and equipment. Drive value based on innovation.• Initiate and seek out project proposal efforts and cross selling opportunities, including scope and fee, for Planning service projects with local market leaders.• Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the Planning service.• Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.• Project geographic focus to be mainly in the South region through local office markets but supported by national Planning service team and expertise.Required Skills• Computer skills including AutoCAD, Sketch-up, 3DS Max, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-design), Microsoft Word, MS Excel, and Geographic Information System (GIS).• Excellent technical and project production skills.• Effective written and verbal communication is necessary and independent judgement is essential.• Handle multiple priorities well.Required Experience• Knowledge and insight of the Planning service consulting business.• Four-year degree in Planning or related field.• Minimum 4-6 years of professional experience related to Planning (Master’s Degree may substitute for 2 years of experience).Preferred Experience• Certification through the America Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and preferred sustainability credential (LEED and/or ENVISION).• Portfolio or work samples may be required if considered for an interview.
