Payroll Accountant

Wilson Elser is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Accountant to join our Firm. The Payroll Account will help optimize our payroll processes using UKG and ensure they are efficient and fully compliant with government regulations. In addition to payroll processing, the Payroll Accountant will be responsible for payroll reconciliations, system maintenance and handling various ad hoc analytical requests. We’re also Mansfield Certified Plus and a Women in the Law Forum Gold Standard Law Firm.Job SummaryWhat You’ll Be Doing• Participate in payroll processing to ensure timely compliant and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions• Prepare and maintain detailed, accurate records and reports of payroll transactions• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws as well as adherence to industry best practices• Assist with the facilitation of audits by fulfilling audit requests with substantiated records and documentation• Identify opportunities for enhancing payroll systems and procedures, recommending and implementing updates as needed• Perform additional tasks as required to support the payroll operation• Prepare payroll and compensation-related journal entries and accruals• Assist in the preparation of year-end tax forms ensuring accuracy and compliance• Collaborate with leadership and other stakeholders to effectively address and fulfill all payroll related needsQualificationsThe requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this position. Wilson Elser will always consider candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field• 3+ years’ related experience required, including payroll processing• Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including:• Payroll tax return and general ledger reconciliations• Payroll internal controls• Benefit taxation implications and reporting• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Excellent customer service skills• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (Pivot tables and V-lookups)• Strong proficiency in Ultipro/UKG/Kronos payroll softwareWhy You Should Apply• Excellent Benefits including a 401k match• Generous PTO plan• Excellent growth and advancement opportunities• Corporate Discount PlansWilson Elser believes in creating a work environment free of barriers and bias, where individual outlooks and talents are respected and valued. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience. This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, as well as elective/voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage.
