The Expenses Team develops and maintains the Workday Expenses product and is a part of our Spend Management application suite.
Co-located in Dublin and Pleasanton, we have an opening our group in Dublin for a Software Development Manager to be a part of our ongoing journey..
Expense has a large and growing customer base and is at home on Desktop and Mobile platforms.
Our focus is on improving and simplifying our entire User Experience and evolve our Expense Processing process through integration of automation, 3rd party integrations, machine learning, and a new customer centric UX. With a healthy backlog of change proposals, our growth matches our ambition across a multiyear delivery roadmap.

About the Role

As a leader for our Expenses development team you will be leading a team of talented, dynamic and passionate software engineers. Working with architects, product managers and other stakeholders you will facilitate the delivery in an Agile environment, of innovative features for our Workday Expenses product which are designed to meet the needs of our large and diverse customer base. The team’s overall goal will be to accelerate the delivery of new features in an agile environment while safeguarding the high quality our customers expect from Workday applications. You will :

  • Build a high-performing engineering team through hiring, mentorship, career development, training, goal setting and candid feedback.
  • Manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines, be passionate about building high quality enterprise applications and be innovative in their ideas from a technical, process and relations point of view.
  • Lead and direct the activities of two expenses applications development scrum teams delivering innovative features for the expenses product 
  • Ensure product iterations are planned, estimated, scheduled and delivered on-time with high quality.
  • Work in a highly collaborative environment and with cross-functional teams to deliver a best in class Workday product across time-zones and locations.
  • Oversee the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and enhancement of a high quality Workday product.
  • Interact with the Dev teams, product managers, QA and customers to solve everyday problems in an innovative way.
  • Understand and promote industry best practice.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable for understanding and consistently practicing our values.
  • Foster a fun and productive team environment

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience building and directly managing impactful engineering teams

  • 8+ years of experience developing applications using Cloud-based technologies

  • 8+ years of experience with design and development using an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C#, C++, etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience

  • You have a strong focus on delivering high-quality software products, continuous innovation, and you value test automation and performance engineering

  • You are proactive and have a consistent track record for delivering on initiatives that you start or are tasked with

  • You demonstrate the interpersonal skills needed to positively influence important issues or decisions in a multi-functional environment

  • You have the ability to communicate technical complexity in simple terms to both technical and nontechnical audiences

  • Experience in ERP application development is a plus

  • Experience supporting team members career growth and development

  • You put people first and ensure a psychologically safe environment for team members
