Workforce Development, Practice Area Lead (MAS HCS)

Overview:
The Human Capital Solutions (HCS) subservice line (SSL) is seeking a Practice Area Lead (PAL) for its Workforce Development (WD) Practice Area (PA), where a PA is understood to refer to a set of closely aligned distinct and unique capabilities that support SSL and LMI priorities and vision. The PAL will be responsible for 1) developing a strategy for the WD Practice Area that aligns with SSL strategy and innovation and capability maturation; 2) supporting business development and growth for the WD PA, and 3) talent management and development within the WD PA.

Within HCS SSL, there are three PAs which include: Workforce Assessment and Human Capital Planning, Workforce Development, and Organizational Performance. The Workforce Development Practice Area Lead will lead practice area activities for the Workforce Development Practice Area, which focuses on LM helping our client organizations develop their workforce from entry level to the C-suite leader through our capabilities of coaching, leadership/executive development, training, and instructional design. The PAL will report directly to the SSL Vice President and is expected to support PA responsibilities with approximately 50% of their time. For the other 50% of the time, the PAL will be expected to deliver client work.
Responsibilities:


The Workforce Development Practice Area Lead role includes the following activities:
    • Innovation, Capability Maturation, & Strategy
      • Develop Practice Area strategy and support Human Capital SSL strategy to assist in executing SSL goals
      • Create, update, and/or document solutions, offerings, methodologies, and capabilities that align to the Workforce Development Practice Area and resonate with market trends and/or client challenges (e.g., SDM’s, methodologies, models, etc.)
      • Coordinate across LMI to ensure Practice Area capabilities are known throughout LMI and meeting the needs of LMI’s customers
      • Continuously improve existing capabilities and develop new capabilities within Practice Area to stay in front of a rapidly evolving and digitally-enabled marketplace
    • BD and Growth
      • Provide solutioning, capture and proposal support to markets/growth for Practice Area capabilities
      • Develop sales enablement materials to support SSL and Practice Area growth
      • Screen RFIs/RFPs for potential action and lead/coordinate response for SSL
      • Review, maintain, and coordinate with markets/BD to update pipeline opportunities related to the Practice Area or coordinate updates with the Business Development POC
      • Support SSL and markets/growth in partner identification for opportunities
    • Community Mentorship and Development
      • Manage and develop talent within the Practice Area
      • Manage the hiring process for talent demands within the Practice Area (Create, review, and approve reqs)
      • Conduct interviews for demand requirements and coordinate with SSL Director on hiring/staffing decisions
      • Assist Resource Managers and SSL Director with staff redeployments and internal mobility
      • Mature the Practice Area bench by Identifying and mentoring subject matter experts and emerging talent and maintaining awareness of desired growth areas of staff within PA
      • Help identify the best approaches to improve the professional skills of Practice Area members to include certifications, degrees, professional organizations, and work experience
      • Provide input and support to Practice Area staff on Performance 365 goals and calibrations
Qualifications:
  • Experience in management consulting or federal government service, executing capabilities in Practice Area (military or civilian)
  • Bachelors degree required, will consider relevant experience as a substitute
  • Recognized subject matter expertise and thought leadership in one or more areas of Workforce Development
  • Demonstrated results with the sales enablement and growth activities including developing and delivering compelling pitches and white papers to new and existing customers to respond to their needs and requests
  • Demonstrated experience successfully responding to RFIs and authoring key sections of proposals
  • Experience leading the solutioning of proposals in Workforce Development capability areas
  • Ability to develop, nurture and maintain collaborative partnerships across Service Lines, and with Markets and Growth and Enterprise Services
  • Experience with recruiting, staffing and deployment of talent
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, and develop people in an effective way with positive impacts to both the employee and LMI
  • Ability to understand and align competing work priorities and outcomes with partners (e.g., service line and market), adjust individual priorities for the greater good, and negotiate shared work goals
