The Resettlement department focuses on welcoming newly arriving families, preparing clients on what to expect about life in the US, and connecting them to critical services in the Sacramento area. Positions within the department work together to secure refugee housing through case management, airport pickups, and apartment set up.

Case worker Intern [Extended Case Management Worker]
- Assigned to a Resettlement caseworker to assist with providing refugee clients initial support and services before their arrival and in their first 90 days in the U.S
- Execute client intake, enrollment, and referrals
- Provide case management services in accordance with grant agreements, tailoring to each client’s unique needs
- Assist clients in navigating healthcare, housing, immigration, employment and education systems as needed
- Collaborate with clients to create a Family Self Sufficiency Plan that outlines their goals
- Create and maintain accurate and organized case files
- Provide detailed documentation of services provided to clients
- Other duties as assigned
Housing Intern [Housing and GIK Associate]
- Supporting the Resettlement team by providing clients with housing support and furniture (Gift-in-Kind) acquisition
- Be familiar with donor and program guidelines related to client housing to ensure compliance
- Document all contacts and services performed in client case files and maintain case note logs in a completely, accurately, and in a timely manner
- Assist Housing Team in securing appropriate housing for newly arrived clients
- Assist Housing Team in performing lease signing, ensuring clients understand the lease with appropriate language, and uploading leases into the CRM
- Collect and record donations in the community from private donors and through community partnerships
- Other duties as assigned
Apartment Setup Intern [Housing Specialist]
- Assist the Resettlement team with the creation and upkeep of home files for new arrivals.
- Complete initial and final walk through of homes and properties, document any issues or maintenance concerns
- Pick up leases and keys for new properties and make copies of keys.
- Pull household items for new arrivals and purchases additional items as needed.
- Conduct seasonal home checks and training.
- Determine if PM/LL maintenance should be called and then communicate with PM/LL about maintenance issues as needed.
- Complete 30 day home checks, send 30 day notices.

Airport Pickup Intern [Transportation Associate]
- Works under the Initial Resettlement manager with picking up newly arriving refugees at SMF and drive them to temporary or permanent housing in the Sacramento area.
- Transport clients and their children from their homes to meetings, appointments, assist with errands and resettlement tasks, etc.
- Coordinate own schedule to plan all required tasks ahead of time and keep record of all planned and completed tasks.
- Secure vehicle to use for appointments
- Ensure that car seats are properly installed in the van and that all children are secured in car seats.
- Assist with copying, scanning and uploading client documents to the organization’s secure Microsoft Dynamics database.
- Assist with delivering documents and other paperwork to clients

Warehouse Intern [Housing and GIK Associate]
- Drive U-Haul and moving vans regularly.
- Deliver furniture and other items to program participant homes, including lifting and moving furniture.
- Move, organize, and document supplies in the storage units; maintain up-to-date inventory records.
- Follow standards of practice to identify and purchase required items from community partners or other sources.
- Meet deliveries on-site at program participants’ homes.
- Complete home set-ups, including lifting and moving furniture, at program participants’ homes when needed.

- Apartment Setup Intern [Housing Specialist]
- Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and clean driving record
- Job demands physical attributions such as driving from multiple sites, carrying and lifting groceries and small furniture

- Good time management and multi-tasking skills, flexibility to learn quickly at fast paced environment

- Have flexibility of hours to cover airport pickups.
