The Opportunity - Tax Specialist (Remote - USA / CANADA)
We are seeking a Tax Specialist to provide daily administrative and customer service support within the Tax Department. Key responsibilities include processing agency notices, unemployment claims, tax amendments, processing mail and ensuring data accuracy between internal systems. This individual may send standard reporting to clients as necessary, and provide support on general payroll best processes.
What you’ll do:
Tax payment reconciliation and processing for US and Canada
Preparing and filing Tax amendments and corrections in MasterTax
Process and respond to unemployment claims prior to the state-mandated deadlines.
Ensuring data integrity between payroll and tax systems
Process and respond to agency notices including tax notices and government surveys in a timely fashion to avoid further escalation, fines or penalties
Process corrected W-2s
Working with state and federal tax agencies to resolve outstanding tax notices, abatement letters, tax payment issues and other items
Other duties as assigned
What you’ll have:
2+ years of end-to-end multi-state payroll processing experience
Federal and state tax amendment filing experience including CA DE 9ADJ, W-3c, W-2c, and corrected 1099.
Demonstrated payroll correction experience
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Basic Excel skills
Film tax incentive experience is a plus
Entertainment payroll experience is a plus
