If so, we are looking for you. We're looking for Controller to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be tasked with overseeing the financial health of our firm, providing strategic financial input to senior management, and leading the development of firm-wide financial management strategies. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the legal industry, including the unique aspects of law firm billing and profitability, specifically handling finances for firms that get paid based on billable hours. The role demands a highly dedicated individual who can navigate the intricacies of law firm finance while also being a strategic partner in management decisions. QUICKBOOKS Experience is Required.ResponsibilitiesAs a Permanent Controller, you will be responsible for• Overseeing all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.• Maintaining internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.• Coordinating all audit activities and manage relationships with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.• Overseeing the production of monthly reports including reconciliations as well as financial statements and cash flow projections for use by executive management.• Managing the firm's financial and accounting software, ensuring staff are properly trained on its use and that it is utilized to its fullest capacity.• Understanding and mitigating key elements of the firm's risk profile.• Reporting risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors.• Working with the management team to understand and manage firm profitability on a client and matter basis.• Managing the firm's billing and collections process, and working with attorneys to understand and improve it.Qualifications• Must have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA, CMA, or other finance-related certification is preferred.• 5+ years of experience in a top-tier law firm or professional services firm as a Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role.• Proficiency in Quickbooks software• Strong understanding of law firm billing practices, including being paid by billable hours.• Proven experience in financial analysis, forecasting, strategic planning, and budgeting.• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and concise manner to non-financial managers and partners.• Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, and a proven ability to manage risk.• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations and attention to detail.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take their career to the next level in a vibrant and challenging environment.
