Overview / Job Summary:
The Adjunct Faculty Instructor in Phlebotomy and EKG will deliver coursework that prepares students for success in the healthcare field. This role involves overseeing laboratory and clinical session components while providing a strong foundation in both theoretical concepts and practical skills essential for phlebotomy and electrocardiography.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Managing and supervising students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
- Teaching courses in a manner that engages students, facilitates learning, and meets identified course outcomes.
- Keeping students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Developing, revising, and/or recommending curriculum changes that meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.
- Ensuring all Department of Education (DOE) guidelines and accreditation policies are adhered to throughout the course delivery process.
This position emphasizes the integration of hands-on learning experiences with interactive theoretical instruction.
Education:
- Associate degree, required or Bachelors preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current professional/medical licensure or certification must be maintained during instructional period:
- Phlebotomy Technician – certification in phlebotomy, clinical laboratory science (MT or MLT), Nursing, Medical Assisting, Patient Care Tech or Paramedic. (Other medically related certification can be considered.)
- EKG Technician – certification in EKG, or 1 year administering/reading EKG experience, certification in Nursing, Medical Assisting, Patient Care Tech or Paramedic field experience. (Other medically related certification can be considered.)
- Minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare field, required.
- Thorough knowledge of proper safety and handling of materials used in the profession.
- CPR training or previous certification, preferred.
- Previous teaching or training experience in adult education may be an advantage.
- Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage students and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
