Supply Chain Surgical Services

Salary Range $89,736 – $148,064
The Director of Supply Chain Procedural Services coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages the supply chain related administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities for Perioperative Services.
Education
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in health or business is . Bachelor’s in nursing and/or business is required.
Experience
• Previous OR Business Manager and/or hospital supply chain experience required.
• 5-7 years in health care, involving benchmarking of data.
• Demonstrated progressive management experience, minimum 3-5 years.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Knowledge of Workday and Epic is , or knowledge of a similar material management system is required.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and with external customers and agencies.

Strategic And Operational Planning
• Participates in and actively works to achieve annual departmental goals and assigned organizational objectives which support the system goals and mission statement.
• Assists in the development of evidence-based departmental and program goals and works collaboratively with the physician leaders and providers.
• Facilitates departmental plans to achieve overall goals for the organization.
• Participates in identification of indicators to measure accomplishments of strategic plan and leads the reporting of progress towards goals.
• Supports administrative direction and participates in the coordination, formulation, interpretation, and administration of long-range policies, procedures, and programs.
• Supports and communicates the organizational plan to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Operational Management
• Responsible for the day-to-day supply chain operations of the Supply Chain Surgical Services Department.
• Leads his/her own team, manages, and maintains staff assignments, hires and performs employee review, trains, and coaches’ staff as needed, develops and reports department productivity KPIs.
• Provides information to OR Leadership to help with the accuracy of the preference cards.
• Assist hospital administrators and Perioperative leadership with requested reports and identify and manage cost savings opportunities.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Revenue Cycle to ensure supplies and implants are loaded appropriately in EMR and ERP systems.
• Coordinate and interface with Supply Chain Sourcing and Contracting for cost savings opportunities.
• In conjunction with clinical perioperative leadership, identify standardization and utilization opportunities.
• Define business requirements for supplies, implants, and capital to allow contracting to solicit bids appropriately.
• Right-size the inventory within perioperative services to ensure the applicable inventory is available for physician and clinical use.
• Drive the value analysis process to support the contracting and inventory management process.
• Ensure vendors are abiding by all Albany Med Hospital policies.
• Monitors and reviews the work of departmental personnel to ensure meeting departmental goals.
• Demonstrates effective leadership techniques as indicated by high productivity.
Responds to changes in work efficiently and effectively. Supports implementation and utilization of clinical nursing research. Promote the use of by colleges and universities of the facilities for clinical education and foster good relationships between hospital and their education institutions. Network to establish the hospital as a preeminent source of professional education, healthcare information and patient care delivery. Educate and market the roles and responsibilities of nursing to a variety of audiences in the lay and professional community.
Financial Management Assist the AVP of Perioperative Services to plan the operating and capital departmental budgets by analyzing program needs, considering resources necessary for patient care, and developing plans on both a short and long-term basis. Assist the AVP of Perioperative Services and Finance to prepare the departmental budgets after determining fiscal requirements, projected needs. Manages the budgets and all accounts in a fiscally prudent, responsible, and cost-effective manner; and within the approved budget. Prepares operational and analytical reports that identify trends, opportunities and problems and suggests solutions. Maintains and monitors operating statistics for the department/programs adjusting staffing, supplies, or capital expenditures to activity status.
Human Resource Management: Selects qualified and quality personnel. Mentors, counsels, and disciplines staff to ensure quality of work and adherence to hospital policies and procedures, while engaging in and advocating for succession planning for nurse leaders. Establishes standards for all department personnel by having criteria-based job descriptions. Conducts review of appropriate personnel to ensure current required license, certification, or registration is maintained as evidenced by meeting all minimum job qualifications and lack of valid citations. Establishes work schedules and assignments in conformance with current federal, state, local wage and hour laws, and hospital policies. Provides for effective distribution and utilization of personnel based on department needs by collecting and analyzing data to determine changing departmental trends. Provides in-service and continuing education needs for all personnel in the department.
