Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a Front-Line Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager for the SI&WS Design Center in Houston, TX.

This is a multi-functional Engineering Organization with a mission statement to provide engineering solutions via a highly skilled flexible workforce and cutting edge technologies for the advancement of the Boeing Enterprise. The Design Center provides engineering support to Enterprise wide projects/programs and is a flexible team that strategically adapts to emerging opportunities.

This Mechanical and Structural Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers in the design, development, and implementation of mechanical and structural systems. This role involves project management, technical oversight, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that engineering projects meet quality, safety, and performance standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering. 
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees.
  • The ideal candidate will excel in both the engineering technical acumen/excellence required for this role while being an engaging and motivating people leader, including committing to:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in leading or managing an engineering team.
  • Willing to travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience.
  • Experience using Boeing Non-Recurring Product Development (NRPD) or equivalent Boeing Development Processes.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline.
  • Previous management experience. 
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
  • Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.
  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members.
  • Can gain trust of team and provide guidance for their careers.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $139,400 - $188,600

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
