Accounting Assistant

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:

The Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing health equity and environmental justice by empowering Central California communities through services, research, advocacy, and data-driven solutions to reduce the burden of asthma. CCAC’s Climate Equity and Environmental Justice (CEEJ) program engages communities in policy advocacy, provides information and access to climate equity and air pollution (transportation, energy) incentives and resources available to lower-income families in California.


Job Summary:

CCAC is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to support our accounting team. This position is under the supervision of the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will handle daily financial transactions, assist with accounts payable and receivable, and assist to ensure accurate financial record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and record financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assist in bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and documentation.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Assist with payroll processing and expense reports.
  • Perform data entry and manage invoice processing.
  • Respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding payments and invoices.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist in financial audits and compliance reporting.
  • Assist with Medical billing and recognizing paid claims
  • Perform other administrative and accounting duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software preferred (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
