The Division of ADM/ Bureau of Operations is seeking to fill the position of City Custodia Assistant. The Bureau oversees district health centers across New York City's five boroughs, ensuring seamless daily operations. District Operations Custodial staff manages cleaning, maintenance, and building needs while ensuring all facilities comply with state regulations and standards. Their efforts promote a safe and efficient environment for staff and the public. The custodial assistant will report to the Facility Manager or, when applicable, the building custodian. The position involves overseeing all aspects of custodial and maintenance operations within the facility. The individual will also respond to emergencies and spearhead the facility in the absence of the Facility Manager or Custodian
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Sweeping, damp mopping, and wet mopping office floors, restrooms, lobbies, and other designated areas.
- Vacuuming rugs and carpets and performing shoulder-high and low dusting of walls.
- Polishing furniture and metalwork.
- Maintaining lawns and shrubs using power equipment.
- Conducting daily inspections of the building's interior and exterior, including boilers, elevators, and related equipment.
- Replacing lightbulbs and performing minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring, walls, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ensuring proper heating and cooling throughout the building and reporting any deficiencies immediately.
- Responding to building emergencies as they arise. Disposing of garbage for DSNY pickup and storing medical waste per Article 28 protocol for vendor pickup.
- Serving as the building's fire drill conductor.
