The Research Assistant I will support research projects and complete the consenting process and eligibility screenings. This position will assist testers with clinical assessments for children and families participating in research. This staff member will work with people and databases. Specific responsibilities include coding, scoring, data entry into databases, and maintaining reliability for coding schema. The incumbent will participate in recruitment, fundraising, and other research-related activities.
1. Set up/breakdown of testing rooms and videotape evaluations.2. Assist with the development of coding schema, code data, and maintain reliability on all coding schema.3. Score research assessments, check scoring, and enter data into databases.4. Obtain and track medical records for research subjects.5. Assist the coordinator with writing up procedure sheets for research protocols along with developing data sheets, and other research-related forms. 6. Conduct telephone screening interviews to determine research participant eligibility and track eligibility data.7. Assist with the care of siblings of the child being tested when parents are participating in the evaluation.8. Assist the coordinator or tester with subject recruitment activities (i.e., mailings, posting fliers, contacting outside agencies, etc.)9. Assist with manuscript and grant preparations by conducting literature searches, developing bibliography and reference pages; and editing and formatting documents.10. Assist with developing databases and the tracking of data.
EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree is required.
EXPERIENCE:• Must have experience with the public.• Must have experience with young children and implementing research protocols in an academic research laboratory.• Experience with children with autism spectrum disorder and/or other developmental disabilities preferred.
