Coordinate student clinical placements for the Practical Nurse (PN) program. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  •  Identifies, recruits, and tours new clinical student sites. 
  • Collaborates with agency staff to maintain contractual agreements. 
  • Identifies potential adjunct clinical instructors for the Director of Nursing. 
  • Maintains a list of approved adjunct clinical faculty by clinical specialty. 
  • Identifies potential student learning experiences in clinical/practicum sites. 
  • Interacts with clinical agencies to plan for and schedule student clinical. 
  • Conducts site visits to clinical sites on regular basis. 
  • Schedules and notifies students and clinical faculty regarding the clinical orientations for each   student clinical group, each module. 
  • Prepares orientation documents (if applicable) for all clinical sites. 
  • Maintains clinical clearance records on students and clinical faculty and submits them to clinical agencies, including   CPR verification, health clearances, background checks, and clinical training modules that may be required. 
  • Distributes to clinical instructors the student and agency evaluation forms and clinical teaching forms needed. 
  • Maintains all files related to clinical assignments. 
  • Maintain ACEMAPP requirements and ensure clinical instructor and student information is updated in ACEMAPP. 
  • Collaborates with site coordinator and clinical instructors to evaluate clinical sites. 
  • Schedules make-up clinical rotations for students. 
  • Schedules orientation sessions and meetings with and serves as a resource and support person for clinical adjunct instructors. 
  • In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, manages student clinical placement issues as appropriate. 
  • Expected to teach a minimum of 20 hours per module 

KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS – ABILITIES:

              

  • Must possess good problem-solving skills, be resourceful, and take the initiative when needed. 
  • Experience teaching in a higher learning environment desired. 
  • Knowledge of the clinical and externship experience for PN students. 
  • Must have a good understanding and knowledge of the requirements of the Practical Nurse program as well as the structure and functionality of the program. 
  • Be able to work independently and organized in their work to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner. 
  • Have excellent communication skills and be professional when dealing with all aspects of the program. 
  • Must be knowledgeable in MSOffice Suite and computers; ability to handle multiple administrative tasks. 

                 

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registered/licensed practical nurse that is active and in good standing
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing

WORKING / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • May require working late night or weekends
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard and other office equipment.
