Job Summary
The Director of Construction is responsible for the strategic oversight and effective execution of all construction and renovation projects within Facilities Management. This leadership role ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance. Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all construction projects, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives. Directly supervise and support a team of two Construction Managers and two Construction Project Coordinators. Oversee and coordinate the work of contractors, design consultants, and third-party vendors to ensure project success. Monitor and manage project budgets and schedules throughout all phases of construction.
Manage construction inspections conducted by internal staff or external agents to ensure adherence to codes, standards, and specifications. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to building commissioning, whether performed by internal personnel or external consultants. Collaborate with Facilities Management leadership to enhance planning, execution, commissioning practices, and the selection process for construction contracts.
Administer day-to-day construction and renovation operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource management. Prepare detailed cost estimates, assess project feasibility, and identify practical solutions to complex construction challenges. Develop strategic goals and objectives to support the College’s long-term facility needs and evolving campus priorities.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all relevant project and construction management disciplines, standards, and best practices. Conduct post-construction evaluations to gather feedback, assess performance, and improve future project delivery.
