Event Security Officer

Description

Precision Security Team is a veteran-owned and operated company proudly serving northern Colorado and surrounding areas. Since our establishment in 2018, we have experienced remarkable growth, earning the trust of local government agencies, schools, critical infrastructure sites, event organizers, and more. Based in the region stretching from Denver, CO, to Cheyenne, WY, we are committed to excellence in security services.

We take pride in hiring veterans, former law enforcement personnel, and first responders and strongly encourage individuals with such backgrounds to apply. However, we are equally committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. Precision Security Team is an equal-opportunity employer, and all candidates are evaluated based on their qualifications, without discrimination or bias.

As an Unarmed Security Officer at Precision Security Team, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the public at your assigned location. Your responsibilities will include addressing security concerns and handling requests as needed to ensure the safety and satisfaction of clients and the community.

Every Security Officer at Precision Security Team is entrusted with delivering an exceptional experience for our clients while safeguarding their interests. It is essential to uphold the company’s professional image at all times—whether interacting with clients, the public, or law enforcement.

As a member of our team, you are expected to embody and demonstrate Precision Security Team’s core values and code of conduct in all aspects of your work.

This position requires availability to work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during afternoon and evening shifts. Consistent attendance is essential, as these shifts are critical to our operations. If you are unable to commit to working all three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) during these specified times, we kindly ask that you refrain from applying. Reliable weekend availability is a key aspect of this role to ensure smooth operations and support for our team and clients.

Events for this position will take place at various venues across Fort Collins and throughout northern Colorado. Due to the nature of the job, reliable transportation is critical to ensure punctuality and the ability to travel between different locations as required. Candidates must be able to consistently arrive on time, regardless of the venue's location, and demonstrate flexibility in accommodating the travel demands of each event. Having dependable transportation is a key requirement to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.

Candidates for this position must be 21 years of age or older.

Critical Roles of the Position:  Responsibilities may vary by site and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), but generally include:

De-Escalation: Monitor and identify potential conflicts or disturbances among event attendees, taking proactive steps to de-escalate tense situations. Use effective communication and conflict resolution techniques to calm individuals, defuse aggressive behavior, and maintain a safe environment. Coordinate with event management and law enforcement if situations require further intervention. Document any incidents involving de-escalation for reporting purposes.

Customer Service: Serve as a welcoming and approachable presence, assisting guests with questions, directions, and general information about the event. Ensure a positive guest experience by providing friendly, respectful, and professional interactions at all times. Address and resolve any customer concerns or complaints in a timely manner, while maintaining security protocols. Act as a liaison between guests and event organizers to ensure clear communication and enhance the overall experience.

Access Control: Monitor entrances and exits to maintain the safety and security of event premises, ensuring only authorized individuals have access to restricted areas. Verify credentials, tickets, or passes to prevent unauthorized entry and manage crowd flow effectively. Implement entry and exit procedures, including managing guest counts for capacity control. Coordinate with other security staff to maintain secure and controlled access points throughout the event.

Wanding: Conduct hand-held metal detector screening (wanding) of guests to ensure compliance with event security protocols. Follow proper wanding procedures to identify prohibited items and ensure a thorough screening process. Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor while conducting screenings, ensuring guests feel comfortable and informed about the process. Communicate any security concerns or findings to the appropriate security team members.

Bag Checks: Perform thorough checks of bags, backpacks, and other personal items for prohibited or restricted items before entry. Ensure bag checks are conducted efficiently while maintaining respect for guests’ belongings and privacy. Educate attendees on event policies regarding prohibited items and ensure compliance with security guidelines. Document and report any prohibited items discovered during bag checks, and coordinate with event management for proper handling.

Precision Security Team or the client can assign other duties to you as necessary at any time.

Company Core Values:

  • Integrity: In all we do, at every level.
  • Commitment: To our team, our clients, our community.
  • Development: Professionally, personally, collectively; always improving.

Key Competencies:

  • positive attitude
  • time management
  • situational awareness
  • professional demeanor
  • de-escalation and conflict management skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • confidence working solitary and with a team
  • proficiency with smart phones and online scheduling software
  • physical ability to perform work related tasks
  • ability to use proper English and grammar when filling out reports and other required paperwork

Pay: This W2 position starts at $19.00/hour. Employees who work 30 or more hours a week are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life, accident, and hospital indemnity insurance. Colorado offers additional benefits to all employees, including paid sick leave, the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program, which provides paid leave, and a secure savings option through a Roth IRA program.

Hiring Process: Assessments will be scored based on answering the question, and proper use of grammar and written communication. Please do not write "see resume" or "can be discussed during the interview" as your answer. We are looking for answers with specific examples and/or thorough, multiple sentence answers to the questions.

Our hiring process begins with a thorough review of resumes to identify candidates who align well with our company’s needs. If your resume stands out, you will receive a call for an initial phone screen. Following a successful phone screen, we will invite you to an in-person interview with the hiring manager and other relevant management team members.

During the interview, we ask that you use the S.T.A.R. technique. The STAR technique is a structured method used to answer behavioral interview questions by clearly outlining a Situation, Task, Action, and Result. This approach helps candidates provide comprehensive and well-organized responses that showcase their skills and experiences effectively, and helps candidates provide answers that are coherent, concise, and impactful, making it easier for interviewers to assess their competencies and fit for the role. Should you advance past this stage, a job offer will be extended to you. After the offer is accepted, we conduct a background check and proceed with online onboarding.

We will review your application and reach out if we think you're a good match. Due to a high volume of applications, please refrain from calling to inquire about the status of your application; failure to follow this direction will reject your application, as it shows that you may not follow directions and/or read things all the way through.

To ensure full consideration, applications must be submitted by April 14, 2025.

PST adheres to a hands-off approach whenever possible, prioritizing verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques. The only instance where physical intervention is appropriate is if an individual poses an immediate physical threat to themselves, others, or you. Acceptable physical intervention techniques will be taught during our mandatory Phase I training.

Employment with Precision Security Team is "at-will," meaning that either the employee or the company may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, as permitted by Colorado law. This at-will employment relationship cannot be altered or modified except by a written agreement signed by both the employee and an authorized representative of the company.

All knowledge about a site's staff, customers, products, events, procedures, facilities, etc. must remain confidential. Any improper public or personal disclosure will result in discipline up to and including termination.

Precision Security Team is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination or harassment of any kind as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.
