Inclusion at lululemon is rooted in action.

We are listening, learning, and taking intentional steps to eliminate barriers to equity so that our guests, employees, ambassadors, and the people who make our products have equitable access to opportunities and feel welcome, respected, and valued.

Some key recent investments include:

Design

Designing across our entire business for as many people as possible, including store locations, employment policies, and product and guest interactions.

IDEA Learning

Developed and piloted IDEA toolkits focused on inclusive language, conscious and unconscious behaviours, cultural humility, and harm reduction practices.

People Networks at lululemon

We have ten People Networks, representing Asian, Black, Chronic Illness, Mental Health & Disabilities, Indigenous, Jewish, Latine, LGBTQ2IA , Size Inclusivity, South Asian and Women in STEM.

The intention of these networks is to cultivate safe spaces, and community for employees with intersectional and marginalized identities and supporters to connect, restore, grow, and develop. To date, these networks have created spaces for 1,200 employees. Together and in partnership with the business, our networks help foster a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace that is aligned with our values and purpose.

IDEA Global Internship Program

This program provides interns with the space to be their authentic selves in our inclusive environment, where they grow through our 3-tier support system and have unlimited opportunities to make an impact and be celebrated.

During the 12-week paid program, our interns are provided with skills for the future and given insight into our whole business and sector through a thoughtfully curated internship curriculum. In 2021, 87% of our interns were from underrepresented groups and located across Canada, the USA and Australia.

Our Core Values

What we hold as most important - our core values.

Inclusion & Diversity at lululemon

Our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action (IDEA) mission is to expand being well to encompass a culture of inclusion where diversity is celebrated, equity is the norm, and action is the commitment.

In June 2020, we shared the following commitments to accelerate our mission to drive meaningful, lasting change in the world and promote wellbeing across our communities.

  • Increase funding, accelerate actions, and create accountability for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action.
  • Create an ongoing dialogue between underrepresented members of our collective with Calvin McDonald and our Senior Leadership Team.
  • Expand our training, learning, and development to support Inclusion,  Diversity, and Equity.
  • Increase diverse representation among our employees and our collective.
  • Use our brand and our voice to advocate for change.

We have committed $5 million USD per year to support with our commitments and we continue to share updates on our IDEA efforts and commitments in our annual Impact Report.

Our Impact

Our Impact Agenda outlines our social and environmental commitments and multi-year strategies to contribute to a healthier world. We take a holistic approach to driving positive impact, and draw inspiration from the interconnectedness of our people, product, planet, and the communities we serve – when we focus on one, we also impact another.

Our three pillars address critical social and environmental issues, each with a vision for success, goals, and commitments, and opportunities that support our business and ambition to be a responsible industry leader and do what’s right.
